The distro is sure real, I switched to it recently
Its debian sarge based I believe, so a good package managment system with non-outdated packeges
If you want a cd though, you have to hurry since they stop doing that soon.

Sure, if your running a server.... If you want a free desktop use linux instead
Although I think freebsd is getting more desktop friendly I think, but you don't seem to like that either

I just received the CD (actually it's 2 CDs, 1 live CD and 1 install CD), and I don't think they will do this forever as each CD costs less than 1 euro, but the shipping cost is more than 10 euros (from Netherlands to China)

Pros:
- It's a fully functional GNU/Linux system based on Debian
- Includes a live CD (similar as Knoppix), so you can try it out without installing it on your Windows box
- Also includes some popular free software for Windows in the CD (Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice.org, AbiWord, etc)
- Nothing but NVidia's Video driver and several modules officially included with the kernel named Linux (but stripped by Debian, e.g. Keyspan driver) are non-free.

Cons:
- Don't know the root password of the Live CD
- No KDE
- Live CD has no GCC, so you can't compile bots with it

overall it's still a nice distro

- Ubuntu has its root account deactivated, use sudo instead.
- You can install KDE manually
- Ya, unfortunaly you have to install those manually(which is very easy through synaptic)

the kernel in "main" section is Debian's version and the "restricted" section contains some modules removed by Debian from the official kernel

There is also Nvidia kernel module in "restricted" section.
