Default Trillian: How do you set up IRC correctly. - 12-04-2005

Ok so we have established I don't know squat about setting up trillian to allow me to chat with IRC.
I got as far as managing my connections in trillian 3.1 basic.
So what should I be putting in the fields.

I hate Trillian. Too buggy and now you have to pay to use certain features. I use all the separate messengers, and in linux I always prefer to use Gaim or Kopete. I've never used IRC.

Trillian makes me happy when I'm sad.

To add a new connection, go to the connection manager for IRC.

Click "add" at the bottom left.

The "Add a server" dialog pops up.

Description - Obvious
Server - The server, ex) irc.bots-united.com
Country -
Port -
Group - Group you want to stick it in, for organization purposes

Then, find your new server that you added in the folder tree thing, select it, click connect.

Then, click on the "irc" icon in Trillian (like how MSN, YIM, ICQ's icons for controlling them)

Click join channel #bots-united

Flame the BU ops.

Cool thanks.
I just was a little worried when i went in to two different rooms, bots-united included, and found only a few people and they had been idle for a long time (600+ minutes).
Last year I logged into the room using mIRC and was a little intimidated by the interface and the strange commands and stuff and it used alarge percent of my 46k connection.

Trillian isn't that great for IRC, the general IRC interface is poor, its scripting API is almost non-existant.

I'm a 'pro' user (And yes, i paid for it), and everything is great, except for its IRC capabilities ;/

I just found gaim.
It supports irc and msn and others that I have never heard of, this is probably just the same as trillian without the skins.
