Default cs bot recomendation - 28-01-2004

I am currently running a cs server for the purpose of testing only. My game server runs on linux and I use steam. I need a bot for cs, the bots need to have basic workings within the objects of the various game types (specifically for bomb or hostage related game types). I'm looking for stability over the best most human like bot that learns from its mistakes. I dont care about nav system etc. Just able to understand the game objectives and manuever in standard maps in steam and under linux. metamod or non-metamod is fine. Recommendations? Seems not all bots support linux...

I would recommend PoX bot, but its fairly crashy, at least for me. Maybe you should just go with good ol' POD bot. It can do all basic funstions of CS (bombs, hostages, awp camping, nade spamming).

Hi,

RealBot AI 1.0 will do fine, and unless you use adminmod/amx it is quite stable.
the bots walk ok, they have a certain grade of variation, know where to find hostages and bomb spots and use them allmost allways correctly.
small glitches include: choosing wrong way "home" with hostages(i.e. hostages stand on obstacles like a window), not defusing if bomb is on high/hidden places.

bots do shoot always good, but tactics depend on skill.

remember to user the old realbot release, the readme is working, but one has to read it more than once i guess.

Cheers Memed

real bot it is, installed it no problem bots are apparently running around. We'll if they ever add to the teamscore or not, hopefully

No sweat installing it but i get some pretty weird output to the console running this... I never set the rbds csversion but after starting and sending the command it reports "Playing Counter-Strike 1.6" so guessing im cool. as for weird output it spit the entire waypoint file at me i think... says [WAYPOINT] alot in the output.

also my server just crashed...

where do i set csversion and is that what caused the crash?

Freel free to move this to the real bot forum if need be.

It's in the bot.cfg in the realbot folder.

version 1.0 linux realbot must not come with a config file...

Code:
[bs@Dragon realbot]$ find * |grep bot.cfg
Produced nothing...

yes, i know it's written somewhere, you need to copy bot.cfg and rb_names.txt from the win32 version to your linux one, stefan had forgotten them when he made the linux download pak.

Cheers
