Default Problem with kicking bots - 22-10-2004

I've loaded up PODBot-R2.44-Linux and I don't know if ths is a bug or a feature, if I kick a bot using the dedicated server console, a new bot is auto generated to take its place.

If I use the pb remove command the kicked bots won't be replaced, which is good but I cannot use this command because I want to be able to specify which bot to kick out by userid.

Is there a way to turn the bot auto replace feature off without modifying the source code?

see KWo another complaint

well we've already decided to change the auto-join thing back to how it was supposed to be in 2.5...
so you'll be able to kick a bot without it rejoining unless you have max_bots set to something..
and maybe I can add a way to kick a specific bot using pb remove...

CSBot does the same...And this issue isn't a fault of my auto add/kick bot specyfication , but it's because You can't recognize (catch) kick command.

..to how YOU think it was supposed to be, exactly.
I decided nothing - only suggested to do this in both ways - by cvar - if somebody wants control number of bots by max_bots variable or like is until now.

And we will be back to the empty server problem. All my effort to prevent this seems be losed.

You need to add nothing - it IS working currently. Yesterday I've tried - in both ways You can kick a specyfic bot:

pb remove #bot_id
or
pb remove bot_name

If bot has detainames on and/or has some space in its name - You need to use quotes - for example:
pb remove "[POD]Mr Bean (100)"

BTW - why even Council can't start a thread in the correct place? :'(

...
empty server...
It won't happen...
it'll never happen..
I won't let it..

and that pb remove parameter is actually the [team]...

pb remove #bot_id

That's all I needed to know - thanks! FYI: I did not see this written in the manual.

I figured the regeneration behaviour was a feature rather than a bug.

I suggest that you leave the regeneration behaviour in place to prevent a server from going empty, but add a cvar to turn the feature on and off (defaulted to on).

As for where to post a thread in here, this forum has subforums and a main forum, so I got confused. It may be a good idea to get rid of the main forum threads and move the existing ones to the correct subforums.

what's going on here???
do you guys completely ignore me??
KWo.. the server will not be empty..
I had it so that it wouldn't be empty but then you came up with your specification...
it was working fine..
and it's not pb remove #bot_id.. I just checked.. it's still pb remove #bot_team...
why am I being ignored??

Yeah - I've tried again - this pb remove #bot_id doesn't work like I thought before. It was accidently the first time I've tried 2 bots I've kicked out this way and there really were kicked out these bots I wanted. Today I've tried again - and really - it doesn't work like I thought before. About differences between Your and mine conception to auto add/kick bots - in both cases if somebody setup the max_bots value - there will be the problem with the kick command - untill You will find the way to catch it - so this botmeister's complaining changes exactly nothing in this topic.

read the original podbot.cfg in podbot 2.5..
it says set it if it's a DS and if you want bots to auto join and auto leave...
so if someone would actually read it then there wouldn't be a problem...

Guys, pb remove #bot_team does not work with Podbot-r2.44-linux-so. All it does is kick the first bot in the index list and it ignores the argument.

What I need is either the ability to kick a specific bot, or the ability to kick a bot off of a specific team without it being regenerated. I prefer to be able to specify the bot by userid.

Can I do this, and if so then how?
