Default I dunno what I am doing wrong here... - 13-09-2004

Ok... I am using Steam, CS 1.6.
I downloaded the latest and greatest of HLServer (hlds). Placed it at location C:\HLServer. Also downloading win32_rbv10.exe and the realfix.zip files from the site bots-united.

I installed the win32_rbv10.exe into the C:\HLServer directory of my second machine which is going to be my dedicated server. I followed the directions of the readme installation from the bots-united site to install the "Installation with AdminMod (for windows and linux)". (I think this is what I need)

I didnt activate anything. I went to the server.cfg and put "admin_bot_protection 1" close to the top of the file. Saved and closed and made it read only. I put the realbot.dll in the dll folder of cstrike. I am stuck clueless with step 4. add "+localinfo mm_gamedll dlls/realbot.dll " I dont type a command line to start up hlds. I just double click the icon. I thought perhaps making a shortcut on the desktop and placing the "+localinfo mm_gamedll dlls/realbot.dll " at the end of the target so it would read "C:\HLserver.exe +localinfo mm_gamedll dlls/realbot.dll" but something tells me that is not correct. I did try to open the server and it started up but would freeze after the first 5 seconds of it being started. So then I tried the realfix.dll and had the same results.

I'm thinking I've missed something huge here, but not sure what direction I am to be headed. I just started CS a month ago and my friends said to set up a server with my other computer so I tried, and the plain server is working fine. I saw these bots on another server I was playing so thought I'd try to put them on my second machine but my best efforts to load the bots aren't doing what I had hoped. I read over the forums many times and saw some helpful comments and I did try what was suggest, but I dont think what I read was geared towards the dedicated server I have on my second machine.

If someone would be so kind as to at least inform me if I am going in the right direction I'd appreciate it greatly. I feel I've overlooked something ....

** also... the fatal error Host_Erro: Couldnt get DD API from .\cstrike\..\realbot\dll\realfix.dll (only when using the realfix.dll... i think)

it isn't easy, i know

first a couple of things from your post:

Yes, you are supposed to put the +localinfo thing in your shortcut.

But! realbot.dll is not supposed to be the gamedll. It's supposed to be a metamod plugin. (i'll try to explain later)

I looks like you've just downloaded the realbot.dll ? I do believe you need the big package... it's one of the earlier realbot files in the filebase. The dll in the package is outdate, but you'll just overwrite it with the one you have now. The rest of the files are fine.

I don't know if this will fix everything, but that's a start. To help you figuring it all out, here's a summary of the installation:

1. Get the server to work (it seems like you've done that allready)

2. Get adminmod to work (try writing one of the commands, and see if anything happens)

3. Get realbot to work

Actually you wont need to do it in exactly that order, but it's a good idea to know that all the prior stuff worked fine before you start installing the bot, because that'll make the problems that might appear easier to solve.

Here's some info about realbot and metamod:

Realbot works with metamod (as do adminmod), so instead of adding something to the shortcut, you need to load the dll with metamod.
I do believe metamod is included with any newer adminmodinstaller. Try go to ../cstrike/addons/metamod and see if it exists. To load something with metamod, you need to write something like "win32 ../RealBot/dll/realbot_mm.dll" in the file ../cstrike/addons/metamod/popup.ini what you write depends of course on what you want to load... the line i wrote loads realbot.

I hope I can help

If you have any questions to the points above, please ask

and good luck

Great, Thanks for the help Exilibur.

I got AdminMod to work, I think. I set up admin priveledges to my other machine that isnt running the server so that I can run admin things from there and not have to go to the dedicated server. However I cant get commands to work from the dedicated server. I read up the adminmod FAQ and it said I had to type "admin_command admin_version (i.e.) to get it to work, but still no good. Whatever I dont care, I am just glad I can do the admin thing from my other computer and not on the server one.

Dedicated server is a check.
AdminMod is a check... I think...
Bots not in check yet...

Now... with what I listed above, the win32_rbv10.exe and the realfix.zip , are those the only 2 downloads I need to execute the standard bots?

C:\HLServer\cstrike\addons\metabot --> I have a "dlls" folder and a "plugins.ini" file in the metabot folder. I open the plugins.ini file and I have this
--
"Win32 addons/adminmod/dlls/admin_MM.dll"

"Win32 addons/adminmod/dlls/admin_MM.dll"
--

Yes that is not a mistake thatis in there twice, Dunno why or how or what. So should I delete one? Or edit one of the lines. Do I need to put in the "realbot_mm.dll" or the "realfix.dll" there?

Thx ahead of time

New update...not sure what I did but I have the menu in game and the message that appears at top of screen that I am using "Realbot - work in progress build 3054" with my CS server.... but cant get bots to load. I think I'm close to getting this thing whipped.... I think

I type in 'meta list' in the HLDS (dedicated server) window and get

] meta list
Currently loaded plugins:
description stat pend file vers src load unlod
[ 1] Adminmod RUN - admin_mm.dll v2.50.60 ini Start ANY
[ 2] Realbot RUN - realbot_mm.dll v3054 ini Chlvl ANY
2 plugins, 2 running

So something is running but missing somethign to add the bots.

One last thing... I open my console in game and I am seeing a lot of spam with "worldspawnworldspawnworldspawnworldspawnworldspaw " it happens like every 5 or so minutes and I will get like 5 lines of this worldspawn stuff. Is that normal?

That's all the update I have for now...still battling this beast

Ry Spy,

Is the realbot_mm_i386.dll file is the 3061? I loaded it and changed the metamod plugins.ini file and I typed in meta list in the HLDS console and it shows 3060 as the version?

I'm unsure if you've downloaded and installed the whole realbot package???

Could you answer the following questions?

Do you have more realbot files installed than the realbot_mm.dll ?

In what folder is your realbot_mm.dll ??

What does you plugins.ini file look like know?

btw, i don't think it matters that there are two similar lines in the plugins.ini... it shouldn't matter either if you delete one of them

This is what my plugins.ini file looks like
______
Win32 addons/adminmod/dlls/admin_MM.dll
Win32 addons/adminmod/dlls/admin_MM.dll
Win32 ../realbot/dll/realbot_mm_i386.dll Realbot
______

I downloaded the realbot_mm_i386.dll per Ry Spy, updated the plugins.ini, deleted the extra scripting behind the target of the HLDS shortcut. Loaded HLDS and I CAN get bots loaded into the maps. Now I can't get them to stay loaded during a map change. Assassin said to use meta refresh in a post to solve that problem, and to make sure the bots are still active after the refresh, but he didnt mention what to do if the bots were NOT active.

Liblist file
_______
game "Counter-Strike"
url_info "www.counter-strike.net"
url_dl ""
version "1.6"
size "184000000"
svonly "0"
secure "1"
type "multiplayer_only"
cldll "1"
hlversion "1111"
nomodels "1"
nohimodel "1"
mpentity "info_player_start"
gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
gamedll_linux "dlls/cs_i386.so"
trainmap "tr_1"
______

I set:
admin_bot_protection 1
at the end of my server.cfg file....

I have the file realbot_mm_i386.dll in :
C:\HLServer\RealBot\dll

I have downloaded other zip files from the site, but I believe that they are just additional things to install. I have already installed the AI 1.0 and realbot_mm_i386.dll and made changes to files. Maybe I'm missing another key to this.

I loaded a bot in a scountznknives map, and that is the only map I've tested where bot actually moves. i've not set up my own waypointing files yet, other than the ones that are initially created on the server.

Archer, the WIP 3061 is labeled realbot_mm.dll
BTW, remove the second line (Win32 addons/adminmod/dlls/admin_MM.dll)

P.S.
Before you can activate "admin_bot_protection" metamod needs to be loaded first, which means you should remove it in server.cfg and put it in exec.cfg... You can find more details at http://www.metamod.org/

Edit: Can someone delete the last 3 post I made.
