Default same crash as last year James - 24-03-2004

Well........James......

I am now using the new MM podbot by PMB with the Austin editor.

I wanted to see the VIP choose different routes with this new A* Pathfinder on as_tundra. 10 rounds he used EXACTLY the same path. the only interesting thing is.......it was the FAR escape zone he only went to going stright through the first one.........no tunnel usage.....

.pxp's got deleted prior to use, as directed. The bot did not crash.

I opened the wp editor and added a few wpts. saved them...and at the new round......HL CRASHED.....
...as it always has.

its one of the reasons why i began to hate waypointing.
i cant place new waypoints or make a new waypoint without my HL crashing after a 10 minute round. this makes me have to restart my computer too of course. there is nothing efficient about this

is this only me????????????????????????????????

and i dont notice anything new about this bot.......i downloaded the one from the metamod thread from PMB.

help me stop going crazy

About the bot, SoulFather, it is NORMAL that you believe it always take the shortest routes from the start : the bot has to LEARN the danger of the paths. Once you'll have massacred them a couple times on the same path, they will start thinking again and choose more and more diversified routes. Don't panic.

I'm more interested in the waypoint editor crash. Was there some sort of error message somewhere ? What is the contents of the PODERROR.txt file ?

i got no error message......and the poderror txt only talks about what PWF are available or not..ITS REALLY A HUGE FILE!!!!!!!

it mostly says that any of my pwf's do not exist......although they do.

one cool thing is that from there i can see which waypoint files have errors !!
thats cool

ADDED LATER :

The solution to this problem is this:
save the waypoint.....then type restart in the console....bingo!!!
no crash!!

yay i might enjoy waypointing again!

Oooooooh, so I was NOT the only one who had this problem after all!! All my friends said their computers worked fine in waypointing mode, but I guess they never spent a 10 min round placing nodes. And sometimes it DID work, but very rarely.

Thank you a million times, SoUlFaThEr, for finding out that trick with the restart command - oh yessss!!! 8D That sounds much more like fun!

I have no idea where this crash is caused. In those windows error messages it was sometimes the podbot.dll that crashed, sometimes the cstrike.exe... not really helpful. And everytime such a crash occurs, an empty file is written into the root directory of your boot HD. It always starts with "t3vv", followed by 4 more (apparently random) digits, and no extension. So it might look like "t3vvm2tl" in the Explorer window, and it's ab-so-lute-ly empty. 0 bytes. Nothing. Rien. Nada. ???
