How do you guys connect to your server with the bots to do the waypointing?
I use two PC's connected to the Net. one is the server the other the gaming machine.
I would like to just fire up the gaming PC connect to the server as normal to play CS.
Set the server with no bots.
From the gaming PC set waypoint on and go....
But I cannot seem to get that to work.
I think you guys run all the stuff on one PC with the server set to a LAN game.
That seems a little more difficult for me to setup.
In this instance I'm using a dedicated steam server with ivPdBot.
So I'm now working on copying the server and files to the gaming PC.
I then intend to run the server on the Gamining pc, get the waypoints set and copy the waypoints file back to the server pc.
"i don't think it's possible with other bots to waypoint from a diff pc?"
Actually it's possible for PB, just change the source code.
PS, the HPB-bot template can do so
I highly advise not to do so, because the waypoint display stresses ENORMOUSLY the netcode. Not only it will be pretty unstable, or at least if all messages are sent as MSG_ONE_UNRELIABLE, half of the waypoint beams simply won't draw. You'll end up doing shitty work adding connections where there were already some, and plotting waypoints that you can't see. It's much safer to use a listen server, you have my word for it.
RACC home - Bots-United: beer, babies & bots (especially the latter) "Learn to think by yourself, else others will do it for you."
That could be dedicated server a on comp a
and then start steam on comp a and connect to dedicated server a on comp a.
I was under the impression to do waypointing you needed to be on a non dedicated server e.g.
fire up steam and waypoint from steam.
The problem/bit I do not understand is how to get the server stuff adminmod metamod the bot dll running on the same steam "listining server" !
