NOOB - BOTS Spectate Only
 
Hi Everyone,
I have tried to find an answer to this, but my searching has found nothing.
Ive loaded the Metamod and Podbot. The server kicks over and starts, i can connect as a player. I can add and remove bots from the console.... however, they only go into spectate.

am i missing something really simple here???

I ran the updates for steam, i downloaded the latest version of podbot...

im running on a UBUNTU Linux box with plenty of memory and processing power

I would say there is something incorect with Your steam. I haven't seen such message on my server nor from someone else's log. I would recommend to reinstall the steam.

Reinstalling now...

I saw that also, did some research on that error but nobody out there in the world thought that it was a problem.

Lets see what I get after reinstall....

Reinstalled in a different directory.
Same message as before. this is a Linux server. i am kicking off the server as

sudo ./hlds_run . . .
the process is running as root. and im not getting anything showing up in my security logs...

The server runs. I can go on, the bots are added to the system (see above) but sit in spectate mode and dont join.

i assume you didnt see anything wrong with the "meta list" info...

anything else you can think of?

Please check - if You - as a human - can play on that server normally.
Is this steam or no-steam? The log suggest it's a steam server, but maybe I'm wrong...

its a steam server. and I can connect and run and shoot as a player. no issues. when i press tab I can see all the bots sitting in the spectator.

tried map change... nothing, tried restart round ... nada

maybe my bots are just lazy??

Now I see that other folks have a mod AMX X in place. do I need it?

finally - According to the STEAM user forums the message that i am receiving in the console is "normal" and does not cause game play issues.

as for non-optimized AMD binary, This is the install the steam installer gave me. Now, there is a different AMD binary for 64 bit, but that isnt for me. But As i read posts over at steam, the installer auto configs according to processor. So i think the answer is, it is what it is....

What is the output of this command:
(...)\hlds>hldsupdatetool -command version

By (...) I mean the beginning of the path to Your hldsupdatetool.
I hope You are not using beta update for Your HLDS which causes troubles for many users.
You don't need to use AMX MOD X to run podbot mm correctly.

BTW - my win32 HLDS version says

The build number is earlier than Your one, that's why I'm not sure if You are using the same version of HLDS (despite if Your is linux - mine - Windows). I'll check later on my test linux server what both commands are saying about the build version.

it looks like the code version is the same for both..Exe version 1.1.2.6/Stdio (cstrike)

But the build might be different based on the platform differences (win vs. linux)
