Well, I was wondering if anybody out there would care about a sequel to our first Custom Map Waypoint Pack for PODBot 2.6mm, which contained high-quality WPs for 40 custom maps. I reckon there are still some classics out there that are unwaypointed for PB2.6mm so far... just like last time, serious suggestions would be appreciated - we want to have both popular and bot-compatible maps in the pack. I hope you have time and motivation, SF! ;)

Here are some maps I'm planning to contribute in my half of the pack:

As you see, these are 15 maps in total... that leaves at least 5 slots open for your suggestions. I'm saying "at least" because it can always happen that some unforeseen problem opccurs and forces me to take a map out. Or maybe you have serious objections against some of these maps? Oh, almost forgot: I got the ones marked with an asterisk (*) waypointed anyway, that's why I would like to keep 'em in the pack if possible...

Opinions, please! ;)

Eeeaaasy, take your time! I haven't updated this thread because at the time I posted it it looked like I were the only serious PB 2.6mm waypointer (not counting SoUlFaThEr, who didn't have time), so I neglected this thread and just waypointed this map and that map without mentioning it here explicitly.

Besides, the purpose I had in mind for this thread was slightly different - I wanted this to be something like the WP project I did with SF. Each of us posted the maps he wanted to waypoint, so as to keep the other one informed, avoiding double-waypointed maps.
The list I posted was not meant as a kind of "waypointing commission", it was just an information about maps I wanted to waypoint because I like them, and I thought waypointing them would be fun.
Ok, now you have cs_boxoffice2k finished, so I can take it off the list. I hope my PM will reach you in time to stop you from waypointing cs_assault_nod for a second time!

For a start, I'd appreciate some suggestions from you - I'm sure there are some great old custom maps you enjoyed a lot and which you'd like to waypoint? Well, post a list here so that I can see which ones you want to do. Then we can sort out if there are maps both of us want to waypoint and agree on something. Look at this thread for reference on how I meant things to work:

The double-posting daredevil strikes again! Seriously, I couldn't edit my previous post for some reason. Just wanted to say that I added de_burscheid to the list (best music ever, even beats cs_alps!) and completed the waypoints.
biohazerd, if you happen to drop by, I'd appreciate your posting a list of all maps waypointed so far here (those posted above by me + de_burscheid + the ones you did) to see how much we've got so far. Not to be confused with the other thread (the "50 new maps" one)!! ;)

Nah, SoUlFaThEr's too busy. He doesn't have time for making waypoints right now. In fact, he hasn't had time for a while already... and I doubt he will in the near future. Other priorities... 9_9

Hmm... I had planned this pack as a bunch of 30 waypoint files, so 6 are still missing. And as I wanted to base this on older, "classic" maps (plus some less noticed maps which deserve being played a lot more), new maps are not to appear in there...

The remaining maps I had in mind are:
cs_arabstreets (the question is if these buttons will work now)
cs_beersel
cs_india (this will be difficult to waypoint!)

de_avalley
de_outrage
de_prodigy2k or de_winternuke...

If you'd like to contribute, you could start with de_avalley and de_outrage. And you can take your time... much time. I'm still working on this project, but not continuously, so there's plenty of time. And if I see one autowaypointed passage, I'm gonna... think of something painful I could to to you. :P No, seriously: This could be a nice opportunity for you to get back into practice - if you want, that is. And don't just make single rows of waypoints through wide passages, ok? ;)

Oh, almost forgot: If you have any map suggestions that fit into the mentioned profile, just post'em here!

And if they are I have found a bunch of great maps that are just coming out that would make a great pack... of course that is down the road but still...

Already got them waypointed... :D

Then of course, there are some great upcoming maps (still WIP or beta, though) like de_slap, de_frosty, de_halla or de_ungarn... but I won't waypoint any more beta maps. As soon as they are final...
And there are some more good recent maps like cs_(c)oldmansion (nice mansion remake by Mataleone), de_chemiSE, de_colonial, de_vangogh, de_leestore...

That WP pack for old maps doesn't have to be finished in a week; I'm doing 3 or 4 new maps for every old map right now... trying to keep up and then publish a pack for up-to-date maps... maybe in smaller steps like 10 maps each? That would allow a WP pack release only a short period after the maps have been finished...

But for this pack here, I am trying to be consistent with old (i.e. pre-2002) maps that have reached a certain status or at least deserve to be more popular because they are at least as good as other popular classics but somehow were overlooked. If you can think of any, please let me know and feel free to waypoint it...

In order to keep the discussion organized, I'm gonna open a new thread for waypoints for up-to-date maps, ok?

I've made waypoints for as_highrise (cause sPlOrYgOn asked me ;) ) n' I think they're good enough for the waypointpack (you might wanna check how I did the elevator... I think I did it wrong... cause bots keep ramming into the door of the elevator...

I've also waypointed de_aztec2 cause I noticed it never made the first custom waypoint pack...

Next I wanna do de_rotterdam, cause I love that level to death man, n' it upset me how it's no longer an official map... anywho, I'll do that if someone hasn't already...

I don't wanna do too many cause I've got other projects to worry aboot, n' can't spend my whole time waypointing. :P

I've also done a lot of E[POD]bot waypoints since I was the official E[POD]bot waypointer... soon maybe, even the official coder... once I learn C++. I'm pickin' up a copy of visual studio 6 today, n' I'll read up a bit later today, n' for the next while, wish me luck people! ;)

Wow, thanks for your contribution! Judging from the stuff I've seen so far, your waypoints ought to have a more than sufficient level! =)
de_rotterdam sounds fine to me... I never liked that map too much, but yeah, it's an ex-official map, so I guess it deserves some waypoints.
So de_aztec2 and de_rotterdam from you, plus maybe as_highrise? Great! If highrise doesn't work there's still as_highrise2; if I remember correctly, there's no elevator in there any more.

You can already get my as_highrise waypoints at my website: http://www.freewebs.com/mard_lltd/ take a look over the elevators... I'm also fine-tuning my de_aztec2 waypoints, just have a few jumps to fix. Lol, I noticed one, to the right of the CT spawnpoint, they'll leap out the open viewport, n' if they get in combat, won't follow their jumpwaypoint, n' hit the land n' die... so I'mma angle it better to prevent this. :P

Me? I love de_rotterdam, used to play it all the time with good ol' PODbot v2.5... ahh, those were the days, back when I had an old 3dfx vooodoo 4 pci, n' when I was still a n00b, n' bots had higher scores more than I did. :P

Hmm... I had a look at the file and found two errors:
- The connection from 126 to 129 must be removed; bots tend to fall down there.
- The connection from 296 to 0 doesn't work; bots fall down. Try making them step onto the roof by going straight forward, over the opened "door" in the roof. The distance sideways is too big; they fall down before they reach the roof.

Concerning the elevator, I got it to work in 60-80% of all cases. However, there's something wrong with that lift. It kills bots! I saw many bots enter the lift, push the button, wait for the lift to arrive and get killed suddenly. :( I suppose the only way to be safe is to leave out the lift. There are enough ways to reach the rooftop anyway.

Oh, and you're not too familiar with that apmd feature yet, are you? ;) Looks like you hardly used it so far... it took me some time to get accustomed to it, too.

Yeah, that rooftop doesn't like my waypoints. I tired a couple ways for it, but it just never worked right... I'll try again I guess....

lol, I'm trying to learn how to waypoint all over (inna way) again cause this new waypoint system is a little different... so if there's any sweet features you think I should be using but I'm not? tell me, I want my waypoints to be as good as I can get them. ;) I'll make those changes you said to my waypoints... hopefully that'll make em' work better.

I'm pretty much done de_aztec2, just 1 last jump I gotta fix, teh bots keap overleaping it.. I've gotta push it back a bit n' that'll do. :)

Yes - this lift code probably isn't yet perfect (I was trying it only on cs_siege), but because there are not so many maps with it, we skipped this problem for now.

@ KWo: The problem is not the waypoints - it's the lift itself! It kills bots just like that door in cs_arabstreets! There's nothing you can do about it - if a bot is inside the lift, there's a 75% chance it will die, period. Even if you spawned a bot directly into the lift, it would be likely to die as soon as someone pushes the button, no matter if there are waypoints or not or how those waypoints are laid out. It's a fault in the map. Thus, it's useless to "complain" on the bug report forum. :(

@ MarD: Yes, as KWo said. You will find it in the waypointing menu. It will define the distance where connections between nodes are created automatically in several steps from 100 distance units up to 250 (which was the default with PB 2.5). This feature is very useful when waypointing narrow areas: You can lower apmd settings to, let's say, 120 units and place waypoints rather closely together without having overlapping connections with waypoints that are far away.
It's also great for camp waypoints: With the old WP system, you had several looong connections leading to a camp WP, and if that camp WP was a crouched WP, bots would crouch-walk an insane distance to approach it. Besides, all those connections would clutter up the connection pattern in the room. Now, you can first waypoint the room, then lower apmd settings, then add a camp WP in a corner, and only a short connection to the nearest waypoint (if it's inside the distance covered by apmd) will be drawn.
Makes everything very neat and clean, a definite must-use! :) Play around with it; as soon as you get the hang of it, you'll love it! I generally use low apmd settings in narrow or tricky areas and long apmd settings in open spaces. That's partly because shorter connections allow for more precise bot movement, which is helpful in some spots.

But 1 small prob with DE_Aztec2, one jumpcrate outside the doors of the bottom bombsite, the bots do make it up, but only after a few tries... I can't fine tune it enough...

And 1 thing I realised for PODbot v2.6mm is if you set the waypoint radius to 0, they still turn pretty wide, making them slam into the archways of small doorways.. should I just move the waypoints over more so when they turn to go there they'll go through ok, or is this a small bug that's gonna get fixed?

Ok, I've gtg, need to learn... apparently, lol. :P

The following maps have been waypointed already (I'm gonna compile a package and try to mail it again):

cs_snowflake, cs_robbery, de_tegea, cs_boxoffice2k, cs_duke2k, de_nakatomi, de_bahrain (but bots can fall off the rope/cable), de_deadlock, de_rock, cs_shogun_final and cs_rio.


There are many maps about which I'm not quite sure:

de_battle_isle2_final
a) I'm not sure if I waypointed the final version and
b) it's horrible with bots because the Ts fall into the water a lot when they try to get past each other at round start.

cs_highsociety
As I mailed, I must make some tests... patience! It might be possible to make this map fully bot-compatible, and I will only waypoint it in this case.

cs_nakazumi
Sucks with bots because of all those long vents...

csde_gimlirats
a) csde-maps don't work too well because bots cannot distinguish bomb spot goal points from hostage goal points and
b) rats-maps are shitty with bots because there are huge open spaces, but bots don't adapt their weapon choice to this fact.
c) the long "ladders" usually found in rats-maps cause problems with bots (one goes up, the other goes down => one of them will fall off or both will get stuck forever).
d) I don't like fun maps very much.

clue_3
Once more, this is a fun map, and I'm not convinced of it. But biohazerd has waypointed clue_4 and modified the map to make it better suitable for botmatches. Might be a good alternative, eh?

Once again, this is a csde map actually. Besides, I once waypointed it for PB 2.5, and there was a problem with the rescue zone. I might fix up my old PB 2.5 WP if the rescue zone works now, but otherwise I won't waypoint this huge map again.

ex_iban
Must check for bot compatibility.

de_asche
I gotta see if I can get that lift to work ok... otherwise, the second bomb spot will be kind of isolated.

de_deep6
Must check for bot compatibility. I think Austin has a modified version which is better suited for bot matches.

I don't like it very much, and I'm not sure if it is good to play the bots. Will check again, though.

There are some maps I don't know at all (will d/l them some time and see): cs_hellfire2, cs_chill, de_enterprise-d and de_nightfall.

Nah. it's an entirely new map. It actually looks like a realistic 747 now. No wonder, it's a map by 3D-Mike...9_9 It's a 747 in the air, and the Ts start at the back of the plane and must make their way into the cockpit to plant the bomb there... there are several levels (the freight room, the passenger cabin, and some headroom between the ceiling panels of the passenger cabin and the top of the plane), but of course only one way... And as it's not too spacious inside a 747 (not if you want to run and jump around with an assault rifle, which would anyway be a terribly bad idea...:D ), it's all pretty cluttered up and bots would tend to get stuck a lot. No fluent movement, I fear...

A couple days ago I played de_aztec2 with a bud, and I diddn't have the wyapoints I made installed, so I searched my hd, n' I couldn't find it, so I decided instead of scavenging through my many cds o' junk I'll get it off the filebase eh?... and that just blew my mind dudes... WE NEVER FINISHED THE CUSTOM WAYPOINTPACK 2! o_O shocking eh?
