Global Warming for the rainsforests! -
26-09-2004
Let's start with the facts:
All rainforets on earth are situated along equator, the only place on earth where the climate is humid and hot enough to support them.
With global warming we have an unique opportunity to raise the temperature of the earth, increasing the water evaporation and thus potentially increasing the areas of earth capable of supporting the rainforests. (Or in worst case bringing those areas up north.)
Today the rainforest is decreasing in size every minute of the day, destroying the natural habitats of thousands of plants and animals. Who knows, the plant going extinct this very minute may have been the cure for the common cold? - Something to think about.
As the situation is now, we, the rich countries, have no way to change this devastating situation. The main part of the countries where the rainforest is located don't have the money and will to make this stop. They have a lot of more acute problems to take care of, like poverty, crime, and child labour. This is not acceptable!
So how can global warming help to solve this problem? - The answer:
Raising the temperature of the earth will possibly have one of two different outcomes:
Scenario 1. The areas cabable of supporting rainforests will change moving north and south. The rainforets themselve will 'move' as the climate changes.
Scenario 2. The areas cabable of supporting rainforests will expand making the earth one global rainforest in time. (We don't know if the places supporting rainforests will keep doing that at higher temperatures)
consider these facts:
Most modern countries are either north or south of equator
Most modern countries are more aware of the true value of the rainforest than those nations not so wealthy.
The movement/enlargment of the rainforest would mean that a part of the rainforest will be situated exaclty where there are governments with resources and determination to avoid it's destruction.
WE NEED THE RAINFORESTS!
WE NEED GLOBAL WARMING!
For the sake of humanity, please pollute.
A greyscale with just one color? Heaven must surely be a dull place.
This calls for an extraordinary mix of psychology and extreme violence!
