How do I keep my server off the net?
I put sv_lan "1" in the liblist. Now when I start the server it still adds the auth servers & the master servers. I also changed the network to LAN on the gui main screen of the HLDS. Any ideas?

Try adding -nomaster to the command line.

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
If you choose exit (without logging out) from systray icon, when you open up steam again, it should say something like, "steam network unavailable." choose continue with offline play, the only game you can start in this mode, so far, is dedicated server. Unfortunatly, I dont know how to run dedicated server and play all from the same computer in offline mode yet. You can try connecting to your offline HLDS on another (offline mode) computer on your LAN. Seems like this should work, but I don't have two computers to test it out... Someone try this and let me know!

Dead, I don't use the steam app for my server, I use HLserver instead.

I added -nomaster but it's still getting listed in the steam server list. Only adds the auth servers though but it still seen by the net.

Try starting it in console mode with the -console switch, then -nomaster should work.

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
For some stupid reason, I can't run in console mode as it says map change failed, de_dust not found on server. Also it still downloaded the security module so it can't be working right.

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
Add -insecure to the command line, so it should look something like this...
x:\path\server.exe -console -nomaster -insecure -game cstrike +sv_lan 1 +map de_dust |
Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
All the -insecure thing would do is stop my server from downloading the security module, not stop it from going online. I even tried adding +sv_lan 1 to my target but it's still adding the auth servers and being listed on steam's master server list as active.

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
I also use HLServer.
ok my target line is as follows: c:\hlserver\hlds.exe -console -nomaster -ip lan -port 27016 -game cstrike -maxplayers 18 +map de_dust doesnt want to let me start steam offline right now...9_9 imagine that... In can say that my server is no longer listed in the master list and i can still access it thru my favz @ my local ip addy.8) |
