Computer Hard Drive Help Please!!
Hi I just got a new computer and it is windows XP. I have a 700mb .exe file. Before I deleted it, my hard drive free space was 69.0GB. After I deleted the 700mb .exe file, my hard drive free space was still 69.0GB. The file deleted in like 1 second. I didn't see a difference in the memory when right clicked C:\ and went to properties. I used shift delete to delete it, so it should permanently delete it. I even searched for the file, and I couldn't find it. It's not in the recycling bin either because the bin looks empty.

Re: Computer Hard Drive Help Please!!
try disabling the "system recovery" function or something like that.

Re: Computer Hard Drive Help Please!!
Or set explorer to show hidden files, and goto (disk from you deleted this file):\System Volume Information, and search for file there (or file with same size). (only if you need System recovery feature, else just disable system recovery).

Re: Computer Hard Drive Help Please!!
how do you disable system recovery? I already searched for the file. and I have show hidden files on already. I can't find the system volume information.
EDIT: NEVERMIND I found system restore and I set the space to 200MB, which got rid of the stuff thx |
Re: Computer Hard Drive Help Please!!
System Recovery = Shit... don't try and argue I won't read it.

Re: Computer Hard Drive Help Please!!
the reason it wont show in the recycle bin too is because its probably too big, most files > 512meg get deleted instantly and don't go to the recycle bin
