Howdy all,

Instead of getting in trouble, I figure I'd post this here. Also, you guys are the closest people I know of who would probably be able to help me at all on this.

I'm wanting to create a ChatBot (in Visual Basic 6). Not for MSN or any other messenging program, just a simple GUI with 2 boxes (although it will look like an MSN window).

What I'm wanting advice/links on, is how to program the AI. I'm wanting something a little bit more than the normal "AI":

User: Whats the date today?
Bot: What do you think the date is today User?

How should it be set up? Should it have different things such as Conjunctions, Verbs, Nouns, etc?

Any help/links would be great,

i know alice bot do this.. it can be intrgated with a java chat and/or a php forum..

ive seen this.. one guy named 1001 jedi nights have done that.. some here knew him from the old RB forums..

i dont know where he learned about it..

Yes the Alice bot can do that (it's already implemented in the POD-bot chatting system). Or if you want a bot that "learns" from what you say and try producing new sentences, you can try MegaHAL (http://megahal.sourceforge.net/)

talked with him 2-3 mounths ago.. he was busy buidling computers..

He was in our members list before Nova mercilessly devastated it, bringing down the user count from about 3000 to only 500 :)
