Mandrakesoft buys Conectiva (NO Linux X FreeBSD discussions!)

Mandrakesoft's Press Release

There goes the best brazilian distro...
I haven't understood one thing: Mandrakesoft has gone bankrupt once, and Conectiva has always been a stable company... An ex-bankrupt buying a stable company? Something smells, and it isn't me... :|

Oh, and:
HSBC-> Bank
Casas Bahia-> Household electric devices store
White Martins-Praxair-> Chemicals (I think...)

It happens. I mean, K-Mart bought Sears. I don't know how the hell they did it, but they did.

it's logical for a firm that is near bankruptcy to buy another one that works good... think about it, if the firm is bankrupted, it's because they don't sell enough, which means either they try to sell on the wrong sector or their products are crap... so instead of doing a costy switch (which would take a hell of a lot of time) better buying a firm whose products are well recognized and sell good already.

That makes sense... I guess... But, in this case, they don't sell the products, they sell the support. Maybe they're buying Conectiva to enlarge their consumer support basis. Do you agree?
