Dedicated server performance tests

Ok for anyone who may like to know:

I setup a new server running dual 2.88 xeons.

A p4 2.66, with 28 POD bots and 4 humans runs between 60% and 80% CPU with only one instance of the server. If you start up a second instance the server laggs out and can't handle it.

ON the dual zeon server I was running EIGHT! instances of the server with 28 bots on each with no lagg at all and HAD TO GO UP TO 12 INSTANCES OF THE SERVER each running 28 bots before the cpu started to peak around 92%!

Woah, can't wait to get this thing collocated, because I have the bandwidth to burn for running 8 servers.

i run a server thats only up about 3-4 hours a day and it never lags even when my sister and people are using the computer and watching movies or doing other stuff.

it has 30 podbots
war3 v2.22.10 plugin and gore plugin for amx
and the podfix by pmb
and HL-Booster 1.70

it runs on a 2.0Ghz Athlon 2400+
512MB DDR SDRAM
GF4 Ti4600 128MB
Audigy 2
80GB HDD
WinXP Pro SP1
and an incredibly cheap motherboard

10/100 LAN card
3016 downstream
256 upstream

no lag except from the machine i play from cuz i couldn't afford any better :(
400Mhz P2
192MB SDRAM
TNT2 Pro64 32MB
some 4 year old yamaha sound card
20GB HDD
Win98

i can't believe i can even get 30 fps from that machine...

COrrection, my mistake here.
I was thinking abou tthe PIII933 server. IT runs at 60 80% CPU with 28 bots and 4 humans.

The P4 2.88 runs at only 25-40% CPU but it cannot handle a second instance of the server running 28 bots.

My main point was if you are serious about dedicated servers colocated on the internet use xeons.

Re: Dedicated server performance tests

I run an AMD Barton 2500+ with a TFC and DoD server on the box and rarely do I see more than 10% avg / 30% spikes, total CPU usage. 28 - 30 total players (humans and bots). And since this is the place to post info about internet bot servers, details are in my siggy. Running foxbots (tfc) and sturmbots (dod) but may switch to shrikebot if sturmbot doesn't get fixed for para maps soon >:(
