Error when trying to play Joint Operations over LAN

I've been trying to play joint ops over the lan with a friend and i keep getting this error message:

"please ensure you are running the latest consumer version install (GDC012)"

Both of our computers have the latest patch. And just to be safe, we both ran joint ops' update wizard, and still nothing. Every other game we play works except this one.

Maybe you are sharing the same CD key and the game doesn't allow it ?

All multiplayer games should, by law, have the option to install a multiplayer spawn copy.
