More EA bashing

http://www.livejournal.com/users/ea_spouse/

An employee's spouse explains what Electronic Art's human resource practices are. This is one of the reasons why I only buy indie games.

:( Holy shit... this is REALLY bad. It was an interesting read, albeit quite a depressing one. Thanks for the link to this text!

Well, you know I hate those clueless guys who are so left that they would prefer to live in a Communist society rather than in a democracy and who keep repeating all the old Commie paroles without the slightest sense of reality...

but you got to admit one thing: Labour unions and strict laws to prevent such abuse as mentioned in the text seem to be necessary, and a high economic growth rate, which looks great on paper and makes every politician proud, loses much of its shine when you realize at what cost it is bought - and who pays the bill.

Right now, there's a debate in Germany about worker participation in companies... some want to modernize it, some neo-liberals even advocate its abolishment. It's a relief to see that even some leading German CEO's speak in favour of our worker participation rights, which seem to be quite unique in the world.

Btw: I always found "human resources" to be a disgustingly cynical, but at the same time very revealing term. :|

lol thats funny... i bet they know what it is like to be latino and work in the US... too bad their are assholes that make Mexicans work 12 hour days for like $2.50>:( .....

"EA employees are in fact not in this pay bracket; ergo, these practices"
someone has seen the matrix too many times;)

Making employees work like this is nothing unusual in the gaming industry, just with most other companies their employees get extra pay and benefits for working themselves to death.

When I was young and naiive I wanted to work in the gaming industry, but thankfully I snapped out of that dream years ago.

The IT industry as a whole is in really rough shape. IT unemployment is higher than the average unemployment rate.

I changed my career because of whats going on in the industry. I'll be in the military for 3-6 years then maybe joining the RCMP or something. Not sure yet what I'll do after.
