oops, after installing Win2K I just got these viruses ...
and the problem is: I NEVER even RECEIVED any e-mails with attachment ?

...and how can these viruses even come into my winnt\system32 folder ?

hmmm...this just teaches me not to buy Win2K...

well, this teaches you to install service packs I guess ...

programs like sasser use security holes to get executable code into your system, and then they can do what they want.

i got a weird mail.. and i made the mistake of cuirousty to open it.. i only pressed the link.. and suddenly Iexplorer crashed.. after a while i restarted and all my apps started to self shut down.. i opened task manager and saw this app dwwin.. four of them actually.. i shut them them down.. and suddenly it was fine again.. to stop it start again.. i found the exe file and deleted it.. i think it was enough.. havent had any alike problems since then

my point in all of this.. when i got the "thing" it attacked directly..

doesn't blaster just scan ip addresses then try attacking them?
so no one is safe that is just connected to the net and not protected from blaster..

Whistler, If you install windoze while it is connected directly to the internet, without being at least behind a firewall you will get a virus quickly these days.

You must install windoze behind a firewall so all ports are blocked, so you can install all the MS security updates BEFORE gettign a virus.
