Hello everyone

Hey everyone, this is DrEvil from the Foxbot team. I think this is a great idea for a site you got going here. I'm hoping to possibly rewrite Foxbot in order to support a wide range of mods and a cleaner OO design maybe if time permits.

Has any of the bot devs around here considered teaming up with another bot dev or 2 in creating a solid bot foundation and expanding to support a large assortment of mods and features?

Sounds like it would be a fun community project if the interest is there. I'd certainly be interested.

P.S. Would one of the mods mind putting a Foxbot forum up perhaps? :)

hey, any bot developer is welcome here. Please make yourself at home! :)

We already started thinking of something like this some time ago. We are still thinking about it. But we're not even about to start coding in this direction, for one simple reason : if we do it, we'll be aiming at engine independency as well as MOD independency. And of course, some coders (myself included) may feel they need to strenghten our own experience in design and coding.

well, you're welcome to join and contribute ! BTW, have you read the Bots United mission statment ? on the main page at www.bots-united.org
Especially the part "Bots United will evolve in stages..." might interest you. But keep in mind it's a LONG TERM work, we won't be starting coding ahead tomorrow or even next month !

FoXBot already has a forum right ? We can't open yet another forum for a bot if it doesn't become the "official" forum. What we can do, else, is to have a link to it, like we did for Cheesemonster's RCBot. But this, only provided you guys come and contribute from time to time (read: as often as possible ;)) to our community.

Get in touch with one of the council members by PM and we'll talk about all this! 8)

Ahh, ok. Didn't know the forum was replacing their existing forums. In that case nevermind then.

Could I get a link to the Foxbot forums like RCBot?

Actually if there's several links to external forums, that is, which are not really "part" of Bots United, we're going to move the RCbot link as well with all the other bot links, to the bottom of the page or somewhere else. The council is currently debating this issue, already.

As you might know i have experience with coding with 2 people at one bot at a time. I wrote RB AI PR #1, PR #2 and PR #3 with Tub together. It needs time, rules who changes what/when/how. And you need to see each other IRL if possible (did that a few times). Most of all, keep it fun! :)

With Bots United i hope we can , although we have individual projects, contribute to each other. I am actually quite happy when someone else looks at my source now (of BU) and suggests something. I learn from others, and hopefully they learn something from me.

Re: Hello everyone

I'd love to work with another person or 2 on an OOP framework after which we could simultaneously develop support for different mods within that framework. I just finished up my game design project for my associates where we had 2 months of constant coding to create a full game. If you're interested http://bsproductions.net/coding/ forgive the crappy web page. You can download the game there if you want to try it out. Keep in mind 2 month project so there are some bugs still. Anyways tomorrow I start the completion for the bachelors degree, but now that the project is done for the most part I have time for other side projects while I'm taking classes.

Anyone want to team up?
