What have you watched recently?

Works like this: tell us what you've watched recently and say something about the movie (good, bad, etc).

American History X
About a family whose father and son are neo-nazi bastards. The father gets arrested for murder, and, in jail, realises that the whole "nazi" thing is void... When he gets out, he has to convince his son that it's not worth following that. Worth seeing, but it has some "heavy" scenes...

Black Hawk Down
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0265086/

U.S. Army Rangers, and a Delta mission go bad after a Black Hawk helicopter gets shot down. Also shows how the UN mainly pakistan screwed the Army with the 10th mountain division, and how clinton retreated in cowardness instead of retaliating.

yesterday we watched 'Spy Game' in our 'flat share' ( german word : "WG" - somehow sounds better, isnt there anything better in english ? )

a movie about a spy behind captured in china and his old boss who manages to ignore all orders from the whole CIA and fools them to get him out of there.

dunno what I should think about this movie, well, wasnt a bad movie, but certainly not extraordinary, imo

Final Fantasy 7, Advent Children
http://imdb.com/title/tt0385700/

Pretty decent CGI animated jap movie, continues off the plot from the 7th FF game I think, I've never played it. Definently one of the best CGI movies I've ever seen, huge budget. It also has nothing to do with that awful movie "Final Fantasy: Spirits Within".

DVD is out in Japan Dec. 13, so it'll be while still before its on shelves here in the west.

Batman Begins
http://imdb.com/title/tt0372784/

second time in the cinema last friday.. not that i found it that good but the movie "Crash" was sold out so my freinds wanted to see this one..

anyways.. it is alright and if you like batman its a must see.. im not a huge fan.. and maybe if you are its problem cause some thinks Christian Bale is not right for the character.. one other character that can be quistioned is the girl he grows up with playing a pretty large roll in this story as one girl in all batman movies do..

i like this movie its alright and the plot is working but dont go watch it with fanatics of batman if you want to enjoy it,, they never shut up..

Advent children
yeah seen it.. I am actually learning 3d and aiming for that quality.. i have so much to learn still .. but i guess a short movie for children showed on public television this januari works find.. i start working on my part next week.. :)

back to the movie.. as i said.. i work 3d so that is what i looked for in the movie and fighting scenes are really good if you are alright with some weird stuff going on that is nothing like real life.. havent played the game.. people say i should but i dont want to ruin the game so i pass.. the movie storyline suppose to be really good too if you played the game.. :)

I saw 'the aristocrats' lately... and no, it's not that disneymoviethingie

It's a documentary about a disgusting joke, and the movie is actually pretty funny, but not as funny as i had hoped. I guess I'm not gonna recommend it, but I'd say it's worth a ticket if you have nothing else to do.

I've really enjoyed two movies this year: Madagascar and The Downfall (Der untergang)

Please watch them, thay are amazing! :)

Band of Brothers
http://imdb.com/title/tt0185906/

I got the whole series on DVD, watched the last part last night. If you must know it's about the story of the U.S Easy Company Paratroop Division and their missions during the European Campaign of WWII.

A Good watch. :D

Pulp Fiction
An all-time classic. The adventures of a joyous band of gangsters in a big american city during the 1980s, and what happens to each of them. Tarantino style. Old rock'n'roll, gunshots and blood splats, weird dialogs and psycho faces. But hilarious. Maybe the best movie Quentin Tarantino ever made!

Spaceballs:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0094012/

[Grabbed plot summary from imdb since I'm too lazy to summarize]
King Roland of the planet Druidia is trying to marry his daughter Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) to Prince Valium, but Vespa is kidnapped by the evil race of the Spaceballs. The Spaceballs ask Roland a tremendous ransom: all the air of Druidia (you see, the air of Spaceball had serious pollution problems...). The King decides to offer a generous amount of money to a space rogue, Lone Star, to persuade him to save Vespa. What follows is the parody of a _LOT_ of famous SF movies.
[/]

Faviourite quote...
Quote:

[After receiving the combination for Planet Druidia's air shield]
Dark Helmet: So the combination is 1-2-3-4-5?
[King Roland nods.]
Dark Helmet: That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! That's the kind of thing an IDIOT would have on his luggage!
...
...
...
President Skroob: What's the combination?
Col. Sandurz: 1-2-3-4-5.
President Skroob: 1-2-3-4-5?
Col. Sandurz: Yes, sir.
President Skroob: That's amazing! I've got the same combination on my luggage! Prepare Spaceball One for launch to Planet Druidia
Col. Sandurz:
Yes, sir.
President Skroob:'
And change the combination on my luggage!

Band of Brothers --> Want to see, my godfather has the DVDs...

Kill Bill 1/2 --> Saw it. VEEEERY good. I liked the first one better, tough...

Pulp Fiction --> Never saw the whole movie, but the scene where Travolta dances in the best "Grease" style is very good... :D

Spaceballs --> I liked it. Found some parts stupid and boring, though...

My GF bought the complete Band of Brothers DVD set for my birthday - a GREAT series.

I highly recommend it, no Hollywood BS, just the true story of these guys and the hell they went thru.

Based or more like continued of the great series Firefly that i also suggest you see.. its a sci fi movie with a touch of the good ol wild west with guns and cowboy hats and boats.

its all about a crew on the ship serenity.. they are traders but do alot of dirty work that get them in alot of trouble.. all characters come from different backgrounds.. really fun to watch.. im talking about the series.. the movie comes the 30 sep. and will continue were the series stopped..

I've heard it was supposed to be good, but isn't that something you'd need to watch the TV series to "get" all of it?

And you're supposed to like baroque music??? throw that André Rieu CD through the window. For me a CD from this guy is less valuable than an AOL CD. All he does is playing cheap romantic shit for the grannies. He doesn't even play it right, and he arranges the scores to make it easier!! If you want to listen to baroque, listen to ANYTHING but André Rieu !

Yeah, I know all that... Actually, the DVD is not mine, is my mother's, she won't be happy if I threw it out the window... I put it sometimes because it's one of the few DVDs I have around of classical music.
So, it's mostly lack of choice...
Oh, and I skip the romantic crap :P.

Actually i am not even proud about those either ;) Just ripping off some clasical music and make the 1000th "Sensation hit" is just as good as André ;)

Nah, give me Scott Joplin. He's funny. :)

I'm more proud of Kane, Krezip, Racoon.
