Im running steam and ivpbot and it runs prety good. here is where it should be installed. C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\your-email@address.com\counter-strike\cstrike Hope this helps B4N |
Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
Just install it to up one level of your "cstrike" folder (e.g. Steam\SteamApps\*EMAIL*\counter-strike)
after that, set your liblist.gam (which should be in your "cstrike" folder) to "Read-only" mode by right-click it -> choose Properties -> In General tab, tick the option "Read-only" Good luck! |

Re: Help Installing IvPBot?

Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
hmm... maybe you should try to delete your liblist
|
Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
try this
check your liblist.gam it should look like this game "Counter-Strike" url_info "www.counter-strike.net" url_dl "" version "1.6" size "184000000" svonly "0" secure "1" type "multiplayer_only" cldll "1" hlversion "1110" nomodels "1" nohimodel "1" mpentity "info_player_start" gamedll "ivpbot\ivpbot.dll" gamedll_linux "ivpbot/ivpbot_i486.so" trainmap "tr_1" also check your config.cfg it shoul have the line bind "=" "podbotmenu" in it this brings up the podbot menu / or ivpbot menu hope this helps B4N |
Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
My liblist.gam looks exactly like that -- but still nothing. I go to create a new game -- and nothing happens. At least I don't get a crash -- but I can't create a game, either.

Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
what version of ipvbot ??
im running 1.1.1 on steam, cs1.6 and it works great B4N |
Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
I have the same version as you -- have the ipvbot folder in my "Steam\SteamApps\*EMAIL*\counter-strike" folder -- have the liblist.gam file in the "Steam\SteamApps\*EMAIL*\counter-strike\cstrike" folder altered so that it looks identical to that -- but still nothing happens. If I put things back the way they were -- I can start up a new game normally. But when I replace the liblist.gam file I can't start one up at all.

Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
I also had problems but after following KacaT's advice cs 1.6 doesnt crash anymore with a xp error message:
KaCaT: "Before you install the bot, go to create a game in CS, then quit it (this will create the mp.dll which is needed by bots). After you installed the bot, open liblist.gam in cstrike folder with notepad, replace gamedll "dlls\mp.dll" with gamedll "ivpbot\ivpbot.dll" Then, save the file and set its attribute to "Read-Only" mode by Right-Click on liblist.gam -> choose Properties from the menu -> Select Read-only from the General tab." I also didn't have te mp.dll so that's probably your error. I hope this solves your problem |
Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
this is the directory structer that is on my machine:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\My@e-Mail.com\counter-strike\cstrike\ivpbot So it looks like you ipvbot directory might be in the wrong location. hope this helps B4N |
Re: Help Installing IvPBot?
Exactly right -- I looked at the directory structure of the entry in the liblist.gam file of the line I was replacing -- and realized that the instructions given by KacaT for putting the ivpbot was incorrect. Once I put them down one level into the cstrike directory -- it worked. I've been playing a few rounds now with the bots and am certainly pleased with the effort. I did notice that unlike the source they came from (podbot 2.5) -- the CT bots don't seem to "hear" when the bomb is planted. I was testing on de_dust. Is this true for other maps as well?
