I'm going to the UN!

Well, not the real one... 9_9
Starting November 11, I'll take part in an UN assembley simulation that will happen here in Rio. We (my group) don't know which country we will represent, but as we subscribed very early, we might have a good chance of getting our first choice, Cuba.
I just wanted to know if any of you have ever taken part in a similar activity.

Oh, btw, I'll be at the "millenium objectives" discussion kicking some imperialist atmosphere pollutors non-Kyoto protocol subscribers asses. 8D

Put trade sanctions on and declare war on the smallest nation, that'll send a warning to all the other guys.

Hah!
I think he is making a jibe at the sort of policy the US delegation would support.

I used to do these sorts of things. My school also used to do the addministration for THIMUN. http://www.thimun.org/

[edit] It was the US that always had war declared upon it.9_9

You know cuba is famous for it's medical staff. Venezuela has roughly 10,000 cuban doctors.

That's true, Brazil also got a lot of help from cuba in the research area, and we import some of their vaccines.

Re: I'm going to the UN!

Chavez is a dodgy git, but while there is a strong political agenda for cuban doctors in poor areas, you can bet your boots that hardly any venezuelan docs would work where they would. Being a doctor means becoming ruich, you don't get rich healing poor people in a slum.

Venezuela is big in plastic surgery, but they do not have good records for conventional medical operations.

Yeah, I saw that on the news a while ago... There are somethings in Brazil you just can't understand...

Google around if you need more info on that.

[EDIT]That story is a bit old, somethings have changed...[/EDIT]

Re: I'm going to the UN!

I can understand that. My country's politicians are corrupt, slimy, lying arseholes. It's the same in every nation.

People want to rule a country not to help the country and its people, they do it for their own personal power and wealth.

Re: I'm going to the UN!

I generally agree, although from time to time you meet some who do.

I believe it's not the attract of power that corrupts, but its exercise.

Re: I'm going to the UN!

The thing is that you are "outside" the crisis... For someone who is in the inside, everything is a bit overwhelming... We have three major Parlament Investigation Comitees (CPI or CPMI) running at the same time...:-/

HangFire 08-09-2005 05:41

Re: I'm going to the UN!

Oh, Canada only has one major investigation at the moment. You've got us beat for most inept government. For now.

Yes, and any ripe ones you can eat - they will be nice if they were grown in good soil.

Rotten tomatos are mandatory. They make cooler splats.

Never thrown tomatoes on politicians ?

Can we use pies filled with stuff that doesn't wash out?

Pierre-Marie Baty 14-09-2005 16:24

Re: I'm going to the UN!

Probably, but round fruits filled with liquid are easier to throw, and you can bring a lot of them with you.

By round fruits filled with liquid I don't mean coconuts, though.
