The big day
I go for my military testing today at 7:30 to see if they'll take me. My biggest problem is going to be the aptitude test, I have about 20 minutes right now to re-teach myself how to do long division and multiplication of fractions and all that crap.
This is too much stuff to worry about recently, with this and then the fact I've been having finals earlier this week, which I didn't do too well on. Oh well, "have the olympic thought" I guess. |
Re: The big day
Well good luck.
Who knows ya might even make it up the rank of Cpl. :D The tests i had to take wasen't that hard but we got further evaluation in the first 2 drilling weeks to see who fits wich department/function. That was quite tough tho. Phisical test as well mental/knowledge tests. |
Re: The big day
you want to go to the military ? I always thought most ppl on bots united are quite reasonable ...

Lol yeah I also don't really get the point either. The goal is to be as dumb as possible at the session:)

Re: The big day
i would but i cant since i got this annoying habit of killing people..
|
Re: The big day
In denmark we have invoulentary military service... I'm not sure if it works the same way in other countries but i don't hope so...
I have a mild form of asthma, so they wouldn't let me join the army here... which I'm quite fond of... But it's kinda strange, since I'm in better shape than most in my age... |
Re: The big day
Well, it went quite good. I scored quite high on the aptitude test and did very well in the interview, so unless the medical results come back with something that I don't know about then they said I should be in. Theres still one or two more things I have to do, such as the fitness test next week, then I'll hear back from them in July or August as to when they'll take me in. I'm really excited about this actually.
And, as those who think its not a bright idea to join the military, you're probably right, it just depends on whose army you join. I'd never wish to join the US military, for obivous reasons, and if I lived down there and was drafted into it I'd move to Canada. The Canadian military has an outstanding track record for only joining into things that are reasonable. I have no problems doing peacekeeping, and if my country or one of our allies was ever attacked (think WW1/2, or Sept 11) then I'd be there in a second to help defend. |
Re: The big day
LOL, you have a period in Brazil when you HAVE to go to the military, but then you may choose to continue or get the f*ck outta there... :D
|
Re: The big day
The problem with the military is not the militaries, the problem with the military is that those who declare a war are never the people who do it.
|
Re: The big day
The only way I would join the military is if I became a bum..
at least the military will have a home for me and pay me.. |
Re: The big day
Heyyo,
I agree with splo, I'd probably do the same. :P Now heed the warning of FPS_Doug from http://www.purepwnage.com/ on his views of the military of course the graphics would be a lot better, but there's no respawn! if you lag you die forever! So Hangfire, pray, pray to dear god you don't get teh_lagged. :D |

While the trained and ranked soldiers are now at home. It's the bums they keep there to take the hits. Cos they have no voice or the courage to stand to there officiers. So if ya join for that reason it's the worse reason ever. Non motivated soldiers are also a pest to the platoon most likely there ignorance/negligence get others killed. |
Re: The big day
Ok, I'm predicting a flame war in this thread... :P
U're completly right PMB. I dunno if you've seen Fahrenheit 9/11, but only one U.S. Senator had his son enlisted in the army... Oh well. 9_9 |

Personally i can't join the military, i talked to a army recruiter once and told him my medical history. He said they probably wouldn't take me because of my past problem with Epilepsy, and my cataracts are terrible. Correct me if i'm wrong here, but i'm getting the oddest sense of Deja Vu, wasn't there a topic exactly like this awhile back on this board? ???:( |
Re: The big day
I don't remember a similar discussion on BU... but maybe I'm wrong ?
Anyway, I couldn't apply either, even if I wanted to. They would refuse me because you need to be virgin of all infractions regarding the law (and my car accident which involved 3 other persons was my responsibility) and also probably because I must currently have just about as much metal in the skeleton as the Terminator. And the tests they conduce are not that easy either. A friend of mine wanted to enter the para commandos, he had to apply three times despite an excellent physical condition before they would let him in. All of those I know however agree on one thing: there, the lesser you think, the better you get along with it. If you don't dislike philosophy, the army is not a place for you. |
Re: The big day
Well this is not gunna be a flame war if it up to me.
Just expressd my feelings. didn't mean to sound agressive. It just that it not wrong to join the service. |

I agree I'd not want to serve in, or with the US military, they still practice the wonderful habit of t/k'ing on a regular basis, the fools. |

Re: The big day
Yup, all airforces require perfect vision. When I decided to join my parents wanted me to join the RCAF, since they're both pilots, but I can't because my eyesight is fairly bad and I have partial colour blindness.
|
Re: The big day
Your parents are both pilots ?
Quite unique... ! :) I understand more why you want to give a try to the military... (no irony here, I'm serious.. ) |
Re: The big day
Well, being pilots are not their jobs, but they both have pilot's liscences and fly recreationally. They definently aren't an influence for getting into the military, they both strongly oppose me enlisting.
When I did manage to get them to accept it their first reaction was to try and get me to be a pilot, instead my choice, Armoured. My decision for joining is mostly for the job satisfaction and self-improvement. |

Re: The big day
Actually, not all air-forces require perfect vision. Vision can be corrected. (I have better than "perfect" vision wearing glasses, btw and very good eyes, I'm just short-sighted. The RAF does of course.)
I wanted to be a pilot, not a pirate. |
Re: The big day
Well I did my fitness test today, went well. Now I've just got to wait 6-10 weeks till I find out if I'm rejected because of my asthma history, and if not, then when they're shipping me off to Quebec.
