@PMB we should switch it to default off, that alone lets the mail traffic decrease

deleting post and threads isnt encourages by our rules. I guess that's the reason

yea I think it would screw up a lot of different post counts.. so maybe it is a good idea to not delete posts.

what wedid at my old tfcc clan forums is we made a new forum section called Archives which noone could post in it but we kept it for post count reasons. or if we had to refer to an old post.

There's an archive at these forums too, threads are just being moved there automatically with time I think.

I agree with Onno, that the thread subscription should be off by default. I don't think it needs a Council decision or does it ? I'll do it right now.

Nooonononono ... i definately think this is worth a concil decision. I think the beauty of forums is that they notify you when someone has answered, and if someone doesnt want that he or she can turn it off, not the other way round ...

Aha, ok.
We'll need to decide then.
I have no real preference, I just thought it could lower sendmail's activity, like Onno. But if you've got a good reason (and this is one) I'll side with wherever the majority is.

I am no council member, but I do for sure find it disturbing to get my mailbox flooded with spam from here - I get enough already.
