bishops to ban controversial ad

more details here

Church-led censorship is back, it seems... in France judges have decided to censor an ad representing a parody of Leonardo's Last Supper painting. Look at that pic and tell me what's so disturbing, because frankly, I don't see >:(

I also fail to see what product/service its advertiseing, but anyway.

France has "blasphemy" laws? Holy crap, thats madness. The church and the state should always be kept seperate, or else you'll find things like this happening.

Thierry Massis, the bishops’ lawyer, said: “When you attack sacred things, you create a moral violence that is dangerous for our children. Tomorrow we’ll have Christ selling socks.”

I'd buy those socks.

you don't see that, pmb ? no wonder you got no girlfriend ;)

that are mostly women, something the male church ppl havnt seen for years behind their walls, and since it's also in the church that only the men have something to say, this must be for sure disturbing.

well I actually happen to know how to tell the difference between a guy and a girl @$3.1415rin, thank you 9_9

I just fail to see what "threat" such an ad poses (and to whom). Come on, that's madness and I agree with HangFire on that point.

I think the reason its possibly offensive, is that theres 12 women, and one man, to match up with the 12 desciples and Jesus. Using that reasoning, the picture is implying that Jesus had an inappropriate relationship with one of his disciples. Alternatively, in Leonardo's original, Jesus was sat in the centre. By stating that the picture is a parody of The Last Supper, they're implying thet Christ was a woman.

They're the only reasons I can see.

also if you look really close at the real Last Supper... it seems to be a girl... next to Jesus... this has been a controversy for awhile so I think this picture is pointing out the inverse of The Last Supper......... it doesn't bother me

look in the center, the person left of jesus... a girl

here is a close up of that person

also check this out...
look closely further to the left.... there is a hand holding a knife.... but it belongs to no one. everyones hands a acounted for... so there is a single hand with a knife here is a close up

the hand with the knife is a pretty intriguing detail, where did you learn that, bio ?

@Brainz: when you say "Using that reasoning, the picture is implying that Jesus had an inappropriate relationship with one of his disciples", I have to disagree, this can't imply such a thing UNLESS you are more or less expecting to find it... I wonder if it couldn't be you who see inappropriate stuff where it doesn't belongs :D

@bio again: about the woman issue, I googled it myself and I found this interesting read here:
