Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
I think so. But it still shows up in favs. & HLSW which is weird.

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
when it shows up in your favs is it showingup as your local or public ip? Is HLSW running on the same LAN?
should show as local ip in favs. ~if all yes then end~ |
Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
Shows my regular ip addy & hlsw is on same machine.

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
The favorites are saved somewhere in your personal configuration there is no master server lookup involved.
HLSW has it's own serverlist, also no master server lookup involved. What both do is simply a lookup at the SAVED ip and port to see if there is a server running and if there is a server running they check their current status/settings. |
Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
You can always put a password on your server. It'll still be on the net, but inaccessible to anyone without the password.

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
I need it offline as I'm not allowed to run servers by rogers (isp).
|
Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
No offense but the idea of an offline HL/CS server is "daft". If you don't want access to the server from the network: unplug the network...
What you could do is using some kind of personal firewall to deny access from the network to the attached ports (e.g.27015 UDP). Sorry, it's 23:59 CET and I'm tired and angry (not 'cause of you but a "friend") |
Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
If I unplugged, then I couldn't surf & check email etc. I only need it off while we're still with rogers as we're switching to an isp that allows servers & I just want to train RB in the meantime with as many maps as possible.

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
I can't understand why you are worried about this. Rogers will have no problem at all with a server that has no one using it over their network. They'd have no ability to even check. What they look for is high network traffic. Your web browsing will generate more traffic than an empty server (empty over the net that is).

Re: How do I keep my server off the net?
But the thing is, they don't allow servers at all of any kind whether it's full or otherwise. That's why the account holder got an email saying that we're getting cut off soon for having one (ran 2 actually).
before, they just thought we played halflife a lot online as somehow they could see that so we played along & said sure we do. :D |
