Re: HL2 Release!!!

I wonder how object physics are synchronized in a multiplayer game over the network. Maybe you just won't be able to do such things in a multiplayer mod...

HangFire 17-11-2004 15:25

Re: HL2 Release!!!

In CS:S its handled allright. All physics objects move as they should, except for when a player touches one, the player gets bounced away.

TruB 17-11-2004 15:26

Re: HL2 Release!!!

actually of what i heard they can do all that.. but in multiplayer there is server side and client side physics..

client side.. visual stuff that dont affect players..
server side.. all other stuff that do affect you and other players.. like flying barrels..

and also.. the ping will be no problem if it was no problem with hl.. its better now and then..

I was curious if you had to activate HL2 over the internet with a cd-key in order to play it or do you just simply have to type in a cd-key when installing? I'm posting this at school, my internet at home is down and I don't wanna torture myself with buying it, and not being able to play it if required to do something on the net. Please inform me! And also is it a dvd or cd?

I get mine in a couple weeks, can't wait!

Personally i don't know why anybody would buy it off Steam. It's a ripoff, i'd rather have the Physical copy of the CD i payed for, just in case something goes sour and i need to re-install or something. I see the convienence in it, but i mean is it really that damn hard to drive to the store to buy a copy? (that statement doesn't apply to people who live in the boonies or the desert or somewhere secluded of course)

when you buy HL2 in the store does it come with CS:S? cause on steam you can get HL2 with CS:S for 50 bucks and thats the same as the store, and you never have to worry about the CD breaking or loosing it

Heyyo,

Letme shed some light on why grav guns don't pickup dead bodies: it's only supposed to work with metallic objects. Sure, those guys wear some kindof metallic armor... but whatever. :P

Yeah, apparently HL2 ships without even HL2DM, is that true?

you know what else is fun, after you beat the game, just play around, and give yourself the grav gun you get at the end and use it in differenet levels, you can pull birds out of the air and everything lol it rocks, if you wanna know how PM me

I thought it was funny to hit combine soldiers at the beginning with boots.

Now if only I knew the cheat code for the super manipulator.

biohazerd87 18-11-2004 02:37

Re: HL2 Release!!!

it takes a lot more than just the cheat code cause the gun isn't prechaced or anything so you have to do that then prechance the models and crap like that

then your turn up all the pull forces so you can pick up cars and shit

Does anyone know the console command to change the max player limit ingame? By default in solo play the player limit is one, so if its upped you can probably join games by console.

First of all, Spike TV has no place in gaming awards. Second of all, who the hell made those nominations? Thats that thinnest list of games to vote for I've ever seen. Most of the awards I couldn't vote for, because I'd never heard of the games they listed. I could easily think of a pile more games for each catergory that are much more deserving of some of those awards.

how's the AI in that game by the way ?

Re: HL2 Release!!!

Well there goes my coding time.
I'll be playing HL2 for next couple weeks. hehehehe

Well game play is good.
Monster AI is somewhat like HL1.

Mosters hide for seconds thenappear to attack you..
However they do that straffe now. shooting while comming around corner.
So yes its better but still are just HL monsters.
But given enuf of them and/or at tricky places gives good overall action.

I'd have to agree, whoever said the AI is like HL1 should be shot :D

I played on Hard, and it wasnt easy to kill shite, if they see you grab an object with the manipulator, they will run for cover

It's called advertising... 9_9

Never believe car manufacturer X when they say their new car won an award...
believe a serious and independent institution when they show you a transparent and reasonable test and tell you that an "X"-brand car won it...

*EDIT*

Me thinks your sig is too big. I don't believe the rule that no sig pic may exceed 100 px in height was introduced so that people can pile so much other stuff into their sig that the result equals an image of 200 px in height... maybe that rule ought to be formulated a bit better? Nothing personal, it just occurred to me.

Re: HL2 Release!!!

Heyyo,

Well, spike tv is a channel for men. Men do all kinds of stuff, from gaming to action movies. Spike tv's trying to capitolize on new game releases right now since they're getting big, and since lots of us dudes play games (especially compared to chicks...) why wouldn't they try to suit our needs? ;)

The retail of HL2 comes with CS:S and apparently is equal to bronze, but the collectors edition is the same as gold.

BUT, some people say HL2 retail is equal to silver cause their copies have CS:CZ, but I'm not sure anymore who to believe... i need to research...

As for HL2 multiplayer? http://www.hl2world.com/ :D I dunno how the bots will work though, if they will shoot everyone or just the player since they're probably programmed for just 1 player...

It will add you to the master server and it works. I know, it looks like the leak, but I assure you this is the retail HL2.

[EDIT]

I'm pretty sure this link's legal... if I'm wrong just gimmie a heads up.

And yeah, I'm sure if it wasn't legal www.planethalflife.com wouldn't have it on their news posts. ;)

Re: HL2 Release!!!

to clear it up these are the system requirements for HL2 according to Prima

Supported OS: Windows XP/ME/2000/98
Processor: 1.2 GHz
RAM: 256 MB
Video Care: 3D accelerator card
Sound Card: Windows Compatable sound device
DirectX Version: DX7 graphics card or better
Hard Drive Space: 3GB

note that the misspelled words are not primas fault i am too lazy to check the spelling

and yes this means you have to update from the 386 you are using

The HL2World Forums was where many of the HL2 leak Mappers would go to discuss their mapping issues and custom maps for CS:S beta, which was supposed to be illegal. However, now that CS:Source and the official Hammer are out, you can't really tell if a map was made with the Hammer leak or the legal version. So it seems many of the major sites have let this slide now and HL2world could prove to be a valuable resource to mappers, despite the many warez using members...

I think this is the first HL2 mod so far.

http://www.filespace.ru/Games/Half-L...Thing.rar.html

Found a link to this on a Hungarian HL site. Its in Russian, so heres what the fish has to say about it.

""
The modes of in no way large, it consists of ya-ekh of maps (3- small of map and 1 large). To pass it to you will not compose large labor, I think the maximum of 30 minutes of play time, but that is less. A little about the subject: You certainly call Gordon Freeman you you work not known at what plant in the laboratory which it is located on levels and they suddenly to you report that at level 2 it occurred what that emergency, and you they request about the aid, in reality at level 4 (zasekrechenyy sector, guarded by soldiers) occurred unsuccessful experiment, and as a result for the freedom was pulled out the &.tsuot;NEccTO&.tsuot itself;. And here you as the respectable worker of this ill-starred plant go on you pomosh' into the shop of №2. well and then it went it went, on the way you meet everyone to nechest' which it were escape from the underground laboratories, as a result not of successful experiment. By the way at the end you will see that peasant himself which all this it did devise, to me it is very it's a pity? but you will not be able to kill this evil uncle.

So its four single player maps, about a half-hour of play time.

Heyyo,

I just bought HL2 at Zellers for $79.77 CDN, and I feel ripped offf... NO MANUAL... just a "quick reference card." But at least this game will make up for that with gameplay n' what not. :D

There has been a MP minimod of HL2!
I have it, but havn't got it working yet...
no time...
here's the link though:
http://www.hl2files.com/file/HalfLif...Mini_Mod;33099
It's a mini mod with 2 maps. A physgun map and a deathmatch style map. neither of which are very good. I'm thinking of converting my current project, he_city, for HL2MP.
Also, there are a ton of planned mods listed, many of which have their sites hosted by hl2files.com

I have had a chance to play the copy of that friend of mine, on my pc... using his account on steam and such.

I noticed graphically it could run smooth with the recommended settings by steam, though it chuckles! It looks like its something loading once in a while.

So, the gameplay sux kinda in that way. I dunno how to fix that, i mean, i have even more ram than 'dead bwoy'.?

Perhaps i have to turn down some other programs running on background, though i tried shutting down a few, it still chuckled on me.
