Neither did I, Battlefield 1942 SWoWW2 (with all updates available) didn't work, Photoshop too.

man , looks like I start a war here :D But thanks for the help guys , my final decision is -> Stay at win98 and wait for my hard disk to get into problem again , ahh and then , format hd and install winXP :D

Oh, you can keep the registry's, just export the imporant ones to .reg files. ;)
