Default Weird error message; listenserver doesn't work - 07-08-2006

I installed Metamod-p (I had Metamod installed before, but that just crashed CS whenever I tried to start a listen server, so after seeing another recommendation in these forums I tried Metamod-p and it got farther) and Podbot following the directions word for word.

However, when I try to start up a listen server from within CS, it shows this weird error message in the console and then nothing happens.

Game DLL version mismatch
DLL version is 140, engine version is 140
The game DLL for cstrike appears to be outdated, check for updates

It doesn't really make any sense to me, and as far as I know (or Steam has told me, I restarted Steam multiple times), I have the latest versions of both Metamod-p and Steam/CS... help, please?

Original metamod 1.19 includes more bugfixes than 1.19-p. MM 1.19-p was released before original 1.19 - so in this case I recommend to use 1.19. The original one also has the fix for old game engines (CS1.5 for example). I believe You are trying to fire up CS1.5 under the steam. In this case You need to use mm 1.19 (original one). It should work - it works for me with listen server on CS1.5 without steam.
If You can see some crashes - try to narrow the source of them. Go to Your addons\metamod\plugins.ini file and try to disable other plugins and run only podbot mm to see if it still keeps crashing.

Alright, I'm trying again with the regular Metamod... see how it works.

Okay, it doesn't work. Now it just crashes without any warning -- black screen, then back to my desktop.

And I'm trying to start a listen server in CS 1.6 in Steam, not 1.5.

Take this zip file and uznip everything to Your ...\cstrike directory. Let overwrites all files (maybe make a backup of them first). And update Your Steam.

Okay, I tried that but still the same result.

I'll try uninstalling CS and re-installing the entire steam.
