Yeah, I've got my own bot, but he doesn't play counter-strike.

I spent about two weeks programming this, and it works like a charm. Basically, it scours the internet and looks for "news" (related to video games or movies) and posts them on my site. (I will soon impliment music and "other" categories as well)

The only downside? He finds so much! Anything I could possibly find, I discover he's already posted. Go figure.

Anyway, I think I've got most of the bugs worked out. If you go and look at the older news posts (from a few weeks ago) you will probably see what some of the bugs were that I had to fix 9_9

Check it out!!

Oh, and if it wasn't obvious, the bot's name is Iris.

How in-depth do you want me to get?

The short version is this: It has several specific sites that it visits (ign.com, aintitcool.com, comingsoon.net and gamespy.com) then it compares the site with a cached version of the same page.

Found new links? follow them. Then check the article to see if it has any similarities with any other news it's already posted. If so, don't post. Otherwise, pull the article and post it!

He always cites his source and provides a link to the original article. I will add some other sites to the "visit list" fairly soon

Oh, and his program runs as a cron job every 6 hours.
