YOU said it man couse just having it on the HDz theirs still a chance you could lose it... while a cd or dvd HARD COPY ( Z ) are the way to GO !!!

what/how much do/did you have on the XP machine that is/was giving you problemz ???

Well, its a 120 gig HD, and I had about 25 of that free when it messed up.

I backup things frequently onto DVDs, but theres always going to be a pile of data that irreplacable. I don't want to back it up because it changes frequently, and I want fast access to it, but then I also don't want to lose it.
