Yeah. More checks to be done by bots during gameplay due to the update, can't wait to see how much this absorbs my cpu.
Course I may be here a long time with my 56k connection. Joy.

So someone else tell is it worth downloading all of it now or slowly get it piece by piece, currently at 96%.

I've not had any bot problems with my dedicated servers (For clan practices), or my local machine, CPU usage in general does increase when you being a server (either lan server, or internet server), bots have to decide where to go, what to do, evaluate possible combat scenarios, 'Listen' for footsteps and gunshots etc..

If there is (for example) and intense firefight going off somewhere on the other side of the map, the CPU usage will be higher, (Calculating shot vectors etc), even though you can't see it, it's still happening. But i've never really had a problem with it.

The SDK was recently updated with a bot 'Template' file, which would allow you to create bots in other HL mods.. maybe you should look into this as well as the plugin SDK, and make a HL2M plugin which includes bots. -- Just an idea

the server plugin example in the SDK already includes a basic bot plugin framework...

Heyyo,

Well, from what I've seen in another thread the template can already be compiled n' used in HL2DM. I saw that Stefan was tinkerin' around with it.. and he did say he wanted to code a bot for HL2DM than CSS cause HL2DM's more unique... but I guess only time will tell what happens in the bot community.

I think valve should be upping the recommended specs for half life 2 and cs:s
since my 2.4ghz pentium 4 can't cope very well with 7 bots, and my 2.9ghz pentium isn't too pleased either. I fuond it works well on a 3.8ghz lga775 pentium but not every one else owns one of those. :/

Even tho its not popular to do, turning down the GFX settings can help a lot too. CS:S on Uber-LEET GFX settings is hard enough on your computer, without having the added overhead of 8+ CPU intensive bots running.

I play on a modest GFX setting, and play with 10 bots with no slowdowns at all.
