Thumbs up Fritz bot and Whale client. - 14-05-2006

Not sure if anyone has tried this yet.

I just got finished with installing whale client on my server.

It works...

1) Just install the PK3 files only in your fritzbot folder for whale client ver 1.4 not sure about 1.3 if it works.
2) in config change to pure set sv_pure 1... This forces whale client settings to be activated by default. So client will automatically hear the proper sounds.
3) upload appropriate files to your redirect.

4) start your server and all should work.

Now hitsounds, killing sprees, and multikills should be working.

Hope fully we can get some XP save. Then all should be good..

Nice job on the bots by the way.

Interesting find! There may be a few sound/gfx glitches going this route, since the code shared by the game/client is prolly a bit different then it is in WhaleClient, but it shouldn't be anything major.

Everyone: let me know how it works, and I could put a note in the FAQ for other ppl who want to do something like this.

Basically the real idea behind it was to save you guys some coding time if it worked. I havent had any problems with it yet. All sounds and mappings are working so far. Because the mod starts with W and yours starts with F it will take over what ever sounds/mappings that are in fritz. As long as you dont install the dll files I would imagine you would be ok. Plus I have my custom sound pack running over the top of it as well.

Check it out if you like.

Well I just put this on my server )The Kill Box( and it seems to work ok. The only thing you really have to remember is to go into whaleclient and turn on the hitsounds clientside. I went to whaleclient forums and from what I could find there is no way to enable this server side.

Thanks to casedog21 for finding this and passing it on.

If anyone would like to check it out my server ip: thekillbox.servegame.com

This is not a bad way for hitsounds and killing sprees for now. But honestly I look forward to the next release of Fritzbot which should start having some of this stuff built in and should be easier to set up.

You have to have code in the server for the hitsounds to work server side.

We will have hitsounds in the next release, but it will be clientside - which is a MUCH better way of doing things.

So essentially it will be similiar to how Whaleclient works with hitsounds? Actually it's not bad at all as you can turn them on or off. The only thing I wish is they would default to clientside when they download on Whaleclient they default to off, Hopefully they will on the Fritz version. I did have one instant on frostbite were I got an ET error that kicked me out of my game. But I logged back in and it worked fine for the next 4+ maps til I quite. =the Fox= also played on it and hopefully he'll forward on his thoughts.

I had an error like that but it was before I ran whale client. Three of us were playing and it just dropped all the human clients.

Client side seems to run well. That is why I like Jaymod so much. It is light weight and doesnt hammer the processor as much.

I'll give this a try.

Tell me if you can use the commands in Whaleclient, or are they the one in Whaleclient???

Commands like gib, pip, nade, warn, burn, slap etc...

Now I've got to figure out how to get my Whaleclient 4 files out of my Etpub and Etmain folders, or can I just unzip the same files into Fritzbot without removing anything???

Really wanna know about the commands
