Default POD-Bot 2.6 For mEAn Admin - 20-04-2004

Would you ever consider writing podbot for the mEAn Admin Mod?

I believe it already gets along just fine with the mEAn Admin Mod... Ask botmeister for confirmation, but I believe it does...

Rob seems to have problems with the mm series with mEAn

I am running the mm series under mEAn just fine. The problem may have to do with Rob using CS 1.5, but we don't know yet.

If there's anything to add to POD 2.6, it would be allowing mEAn to impose real weapon restrictions on the bots. The method I use simply prevents restricted weapons from being spawned by the bots, this is not a proper solution but the only one I could come up with. There's other areas I'd like to have access to, such as forcing bots to buy certain weapons, and select a specifc weapon under certain circumstances (eg instead of sniping across the map with a knife, put the damn thing down and shoot with the pistol).

I plan on releasing the source code, so perhaps parts of mEAn can be incorporated directly into POD, or a better interface can be made between the two systems.

The ultimate bot interface for mEAn would be similar to the United Bot for Half-Life.

I plan on releasing the source code, ..
I ran across the awp_drop script for Amx and it takes the approach of forcing the client to drop the restricted weapon. I tried all sorts of ways to restrict weapons but this method seems to work THE #1 best. But it doesn't affect bots.

What they are doing is hooking the message WeapPickup and looking at parm 1,
which is the weapon id and then they force the weapon and then force the drop and print a lamer message!

I am going to add this to my base ABS_utils MM dll.

Any ETA on the source code? I have been waiting patiently ever since the announcement! Any chance on a pre release preview emailed to me?
Thanks.

I've been up to my ears in "busy", even skipping a day or two viewing this forum which is unusual for me. I have received a couple requests for advanced copies, maybe I can do this once I package the thing up and write up a little documentation to at least point people in the right direction. I think the toughest part in releasing your work is the sudden loss of control and knowing the sad state some of the code is in for people to look at and wonder "what drugs he was on when he wrote this?"

I don' t <ever> judge a fellow programmer by the code he/she writes!

Unless...
I know the circumstances the code was written under.
Was this a two-week project with 5 working days to get it done?
Was this bided at $1,200 and ran OVER budget by $2,500?
Was the manager of the project, who had nearly total control, AN IDIOT?

Considering how insanely busy I have been this year and the HL Hacking I tried to do in the time I had to do it, the MetaMod hack code I came up with is nearly TOTALY KLUDGE embarrassing code!

WE UNDER STAND!
SEND US THE CODE SO WE CAN START BENIFFITING FROM YOUR GENEROSITY!
