Default assassination mod, need your help - 08-03-2004

Hello, i'm clan-killer a member of the specailists team.
I'm the creator of ts_metro, ts_parking, ts_fall, ts_gpc and ts_dojo ( i did dojo with 3d-mike).
I'm going to start a hl2 mod called assassination and i was wondering if you peaple wanted to help.

Yes, The Specialists is a great mod and these maps are superb... but I don't understand... how will you work on a HL2 mod since the HL2 SDK has not been released yet ?

If any coder is intrested in joining the mod than tell me.
I can make a verry profasionall team, i know a lot of skilled peaple from the ts community.
And tell me if you have suggestions etc.
This is just a part of the ideas



Assassination


What is Assassination? Assassination will be a multiplayer mod for the half-life2 engine.

Here you can read the ideas of the moment, things can be changed and things will be added.

1. Gameplay



Beta 1 - gameplay





The year is 2008 and you’re in a big city with drivable cars and a lot of buildings. In that city there ar a lot of peaple (max will be 64 for hl2 at this moment). The meaning of assassination is not to kill every person that you see in the map but you choose a target and you must try to kill you’re target in the city. You choose your target on basis of skill, you can’t choose as a beginner the best player to kill. If you kill a target than you can pick up his money and weapons and your skills will be a bit better. The more targets you’re kill the more dangerous you’re position will be. In the beginning nobody will hunt for you but after some time whan you killed a lot of peaple without dying than you will become in a dangerous position. Imagine that you play on a server against 30 other peaple and you’re number 3 or something...



2. Skill



Skill will become a important part of Assassination, it’s the way to make you’re character better. Your skills can be updated by doing actions like shooting someone will improve accuracy. All players start with the value 1, that means normall speed etc, “p_walkspeed 2” for example is 2 times faster walking than normall. The progress will be updated with slowly steps of 0.1 so it will be hard to get the max skill of some things.

Here ar some examples of things that can be included the “p_” stants for “player_”.



p_walkspeed



The max would be something like 1.5



p_runspeed



The max will be something like 2.0



p_jumphight



The max will be something like 1.5



p_condition



You won’t be able to run or jump forever, how better the condition the longer you can do some actions, the max will be something like 4.0



p_health



If you get hit than you get slowly healen, the higher you p_health is the faster you hill and the more dammage you can take, the max will be something like 2.0



p_aderaline



Whan you get hit by a bullet or whan you fire a gun than you will get a aderaline rush.

Aderaline will improve your speed, accuracy, strength and your learning proces of the other skills, aderaline will be standard off and whan you have it it will go slowly away.



p_strength



If you healths get better than you also become stronger, whan you’re stronger than you will be able to do more dammage with kung-fu (beta 2).



p_reload



If you reload after a frag or whan you have a aderaline rush than you will be able to reload faster, the max will be something like 1.5.



p_rofcap



This is the rate of fire capture, if you have a aderaline rush than you will be able to shoot faster with semi-automatic weapons.

Also after a lot of fire experience you can shoot faster, the max will be something like 1.5



p_accuracy



You’re accuracy will be better after fire experience or during a aderaline rush, the max will be something like 1.5



3. The map



Mappers don’t go to map as a individual anymore but whe gonna work as a whole team.

There will be different functions for mappers:


  • Building mappers
  • Decoration mappers
  • Overall mapper

1. Building mappers



The building mappers make single buildings with a floor size of:

256/512/768/1024/* x 256/512/768/1024/*

It will be possible to go in every building, there is a way to make windows were you can look from the inside of a building to outside but where you can’t look from outside the building inside the building.

With that way it’s possible to make a city were you can go in every building.


  • Decoration mappers

If a building is finished than it goes to the decoration mapper, he can add lots of details and objects in the building.


  • Overall mapper

The overall mapper makes the streets etc. and he puts all buildings together to a city.

There will be only one overall mapper.



4. Models:


For Assassination we need different moddellers:


  • weapon modellers
  • vehicle modellers
  • player modellers
  • weapon modellers:

In normall half-life every weapon has his own file (*.mdl), that includes the arms, weapon and animations (and textures afcorse).

In Assassination there will be a file that include the arms and the animations but not the weapon. The weapons will be loaded on the hands like the weapons on a playermodel in half-life1. In the beginning it will be hard to set this up but whan it’s done than it will be possible to add a weapon verry fast. Whan you make a pistol shoot animation for the hand model file than it can be used for every pistol in Assassination.

With this way we can add a good skill effect for weapons, for example we have a lot of reload animations for pistols than the reload animation that a player does depends on the skill so a skilled player can do a faster cooler looking reload than a noob.

Also i have the plan to make in the future akimbo weapons and with this way it’s more easy to make mixes of weapons possible like a colt in you’re left hand and a uzi in the right hand.



-the plans will be changed if it is possible to add attachments to attachments in hl2.


  • Vehicles modellers

Vehicles will be verry important in assasination, they will help you:



-to travle a long distance in short time

-to escape

-gives cover

-respawn (read more about this later)



The vehicle models will be build with different models so not a file that includes the whole car but the weels for example will be a differnt file.

Also attachments will be made for some cars like spoilers etc. It will be probably used for beta2 or later but it’s better to add allready in the beginning stuff like this because whan it’s done than it’s done.


  • Player modellers

Information/ideas will be add soon for the player models.



5. Other


Radar



There will be a radar because you have to find you’re target and it’s almost impossible to find it in a city without help.

The rader shows the direction of the targer but you won’t see the distance on it.



6. Beta 2


  • You can only choose a target in special buildings
  • More weapons
  • Mores moves
  • Vehicle respawn in a taxi or a bus
  • Police team
  • Dedicated server save options
  • Kung-fu and other fight styles

The main concept of assassination (targeting a certain player and only him) is a brilliant idea. How will you make sure people won't want to kill the first player in sight ? There must be very dissuasive means of coercition for that (e.g, if you kill someone "by error", you can't play for 30 seconds or so, or your stats are completely reset...)

There will be a lot of newbies thinking they can fire at everything moving like in every deathmatch game.

i was thinkong of no dammage on other players in beta1.

and for the second beta a police team, if you shoot someone that isn't a target you get trouble with the police...

Right!!!!!! If you shoot someone that isn't a target you'll have to face the cops!! Man this is awesome. Cops can be bots (or monsters with clever AI, it would be best) with almost invincible (or very TOUGH) status and very powerful weapons. They would rush you down the city, kill you, reset your stats to zero and keep you in jail for let's say one minute or two !!!

If you guys intend to do it this way then the mod will rock everything rockable and the Assassination cop AI is definitely something of interest for Bots United

first i need some coders for coding it and than bots can be made as cops but i prefer realcops:

cops will be the only team that will work as a team but they won't have a skill process as a assassin.
So cops will be a lot weaker.
Does someone of you peaple know a coder that i can contact?

O yeah i have a guy know that make awsome cars, i post a picture soon.

i have one coder now, he's called reddbull and i asked another coder who's more skilled and i hope he joins.
For the rest a website is underconstruction and some verry skilled mappers joined the team.
