Default Pm counter - 27-08-2008

Is it normal that there is some wait time between 2 pm's?
I got this message after I tried to send a second pm after my first one.
"This forum requires that you wait 5000 seconds between sending private messages. Please try again in 4638 seconds."
If this is normal, what is the meaning of this function? I don't seem to get it.

Spam protection. If a bot hacks an account, he cant send too many messages too quick. i suppose i can lower it to 2000.

Can You do it so - 10 pms possible to send with 30 seconds interval beetwen them, then 2000 seconds as the limit for next ones? Otherwise private messanging is unusable for real users...

Sometimes I need to answer to 10 pms per day (in short time - when I'm logged in), so that (5) would limit me too much. How often does that happen the account gets hacked or some spammer registers here to send spam as private messages? If You have them happening every day sending 100 messages or more - I'm able to understand Your point of view - we should be really strictly limited. But if that happens only sometimes, the limitations shouldn't ruine the normal work of the forum... In other words - as much we are spammed, same much we should be limited with sending private messages. Please, don't react to much impulsive for 1 or 2 accidents only. I know filtering spams it's really a hard work, but as long it's not annoying, we cannot make filtering (limiting us) more annoying.

I understand the use of it against spam. But I sometimes try to send pms and then write another to someone else and I have to wait 1 hour and 30 minutes. It is quite difficult to put in since my time is now limited.

Normally, the messages the spam bots try to send are usually pornographic material, maybe use a filter to search the content for specific words that the bots use. But then again, the PMs would mostlikly not be private anymore. Instead of being a totalitarian, maybe just allow 5 pms per 1 hour & 30 minutes (5000 secs).
