Default cs_louis16_xxl -my first map - 22-04-2005

Hi, I read a few Hammer- Tuts last week and started to create a cs1.6-fun/arena- map. I came up with cs_louis16_xxl. Many people at www.thewall.de gave their feedback and input to make the map better and better. I know I could still work a lot on this map but I had to stop right now cause I donīt have so much time. Anyway, I would be glad if some people would give it a try and maybe have some fun with it and give some feedback so here we go (Podbot-Waypoints are also included) .

32 Player-Spawns, wpoly-max 800, size: 960kb (250kb zipped)

Louis XVI. - Hostage Rescue

A map by CoCoNUT baldurs-net@gmx.net
http://coconut.de.tc
Thx to the People at the Forum:
www.thewall.de

Textures by Valve.

Background: The last french king -
Louis XVI. and his wife Marie
Antoinette were never cought and
murdered 1791 by the french
people during the revolution but spent
many years in their secret chateau near
paris until they died.
Now the french secret service
discovered secret documents about it and
want to dig out and save their bodies.

Some nasty terrorists donīt like
that want to blow the hole place up
and take the officers who work there
as hostages.

...but as always the counter-terrorists
are nearby...rescue all hossies.

(Press Fire to Continue)

Have fun!

There is also a "light" version with wpoly-max 370 and 270kb size:

It lacks environment. You should put decorative buildings or hills around the map.

yes as PMB suggests... get more details... push the Wpoly a bit more 200 max... and add some epoly ( its common to post screenies with "developer 1 , r_speeds 1 " commandz in the console ) dont make everything so squre... add some slants or curves every now and again..

dont make a habbit of using "standard/valve" textures... theirs tons of free images and sites with texture packs...

the height and size of your map is VERY ideal for HL 1 engine... so toy around with it a bit more... maybe add a " unseen " ( for r speed reasonz ) 2nd floor... or maybe try adding " under ground tunnels/sewers " just to add more " environment " so its not just one level....

the water and a " bush corner 3rd pic " texture look wrong... im not sure how you rendered the water but try changing it up or get a better screenie

Thx for the feedback. Iīll take it with me to the next map. Although I like "small" maps I will try to make some custom-texes and make them look better than iceworld (hopefully). The r-speeds in this map are at the limit (w-poly-max 1000) I think. I tried to optimize the map and texes several times to get a good result.

PMB...you didnīt believe the story? Fool! Itīs the truth! *gg. Next time I let Vercingetorix kill Caesar ;-).

there is also a modified de_-version of the map, check it out here:
