If the map have specific sounds you must put in the MOD sound\ambience folder like "cstrike\sound\ambience\" but if the map have specific sound folder you must put the sound files in "cstrike\sound\"map name folder\"
Like the map de_torn - "cstrike\sound\de_torn\"

...and the overview (mapname.bmp and mapname.txt) goes into
cstrike\overviews, of course.
But normally, 99% of all maps should be packed in a way that you either got the complete sub-folder structure starting with cstrike in the ZIP, or at least starting with the sub-folders like gfx\env, maps, models, overviews, sound, sprites, and the .WAD files right in the ZIP's main directory.
Which ZIP tool are you using? If it doesn't reconstruct correct folder structures, but instead unpacks everything into one directory, your ZIP application might suck.
