Default High Ping question - 11-04-2005

I know this is prob not the right place to ask this but ill ask anyway.

I installed the new cs (1.6) and everything works fine.
However ... since the new game i have an average ping of 200+,
where everyone i know has a fine ping.

I have a 3Mbit connection, well to do machine (2.2 mhz) enough ram etc.

Anyone heard this problem before?
Anyone know what i can try to fix it?

Thanx.

HL has a lot of ways to tweak connections, such as "rate", but its been so long since I played that online that I forget. You should be able to fix things after a bit of tweaking. Someone here should be able to give a detailed list of console commands for this.

Check your normal ping to websites, type cmd in run then use the command ping <web site address>, that tests your connection, use a website like steams since that should give you a good response. Your cs may not be configured properly, change rate to 10000 in the console and see if that speeds things up.
