I have a feeling i know what valve are planning..

Once apon a time, a long long time ago.. Cheating in 1.5 / 1.6 got to an extreme scale, there was a hack avaliable (OGC, some of you may remember), which would completly play the game for you. Hundreds and thousands of people started using it, suddenly, outta nowhere, Valve intoduced VAC, As the cheating community got comfortable about not being caught, massive numbers of CD-Keys were banned on a global scale. Cheats never came close to this again, most people gave up, the 'Apex' of cheating was reached, and no one would ever get close again, so gave up.

I'm assuming valve are doing the same here, spending time reverse engineering the hacks, to see where the vulnerabl parts of the engine are,but allowing cheats to become comfortable with their situation. Once again, the moment of apex is reached, and cheats can't get any better.. VAC2 will be introduced, and wide scale bans will appear.

Theres no point banning cheaters, if there are only a handful in isolated places.. Releasing VAC2 now, would not only give cheaters something to work around, but as soon as they do, the cheats will get better.

I'm guessing VALVe are working their asses off on VAC2 (From what i've seen, there are only 5 or 6 CS:S developers).

A team would be nice, but decompiling and reverse engineering hacks is a long process, and it would need someone well versed in ASM, and it would be 1 person per hack.

We just have to wait for valve to make their move.

yes, and the latest Steam update news seem to confirm this impression...

Your idea is good though.
