We know how anxious you folks are about wanting to play the upgraded version of ET and there's a lot of work behind the scenes being done by a lot of people to make that happen. But you must remember that writing code is not like building a piece of hardware where you can schedule each step of the process. This is a "creative" process -- concepts have to be imagined and well thought out before writing the code. Then the code must be debugged (which can take an unknown length of time to puzzle out) and playtested before it is ready for public release. It could take anywhere from days to weeks to solve a problem. And this is a complex program. Consider also that Mal has another life besides writing code.
I used to design microchips for a living. Solving engineering problems is very much like coding. It'll be done when it's done -- you can't tightly schedule a creative, problem-solving process. Ask Microsoft about that!
