Default Bot name question... - 10-08-2006

Just wondering if you can add tags to a bot name or even have different names other than the ones in the bot.txt file?

Cheers

Well I tried to do it no luck.....I made a .bot file called test.bot with all the bot info class weapon etc, I put it into the bot folder in the fritzbot folder, when i joined the server it was trying to download a test.pk3?
Any ideas?
Maybe someone has a .bot file i could modify to my needs? Am i placing it in the right folder?

Custom <botname>.bot files go in the fritzbot/bots folder.

To load one into the game, from the console type /addbot <botname> (no need to use the .bot extension).

Be sure you have set sv_pure = 0 or you'll only be able to load bot files from a .pk3.

If you want some bots to load automatically for a certain map, create a <mapname>.bots file with the bot names listed as:
<botname1>
<botname2>
....
#EOF
Put this one in the fritzbot/configs folder.

All custom bots will only work on your system. They won't be available on other servers unless they have installed them as well.

Where do I put the command: set sv_pure 0 ? do I put it in my server .cfg?
Also, Is there a file I can create that will execute all the bots I create?
If I upload that file to my FTP will players joining automatically install the file after download or would they need to exec it themselves?
Cheers for the help.

The best place for sv_pure is in your personal autoexec.cfg, tho it can go in your server.cfg also.

If you're planning on using your custom bot files on a dedicated server, it'd be better to encapsulate them in a pk3 file. Then your clients will automatically get it downloaded and installed when they connect the first time. That's easier that trying to get them all to go unpure and also shuffle files and folders around. Crapshoot has created a pk3 template that you can use to make one of your own. You can get it at http://members.cox.net/knickel/fritzXX.pk3.zip . Read the Readme file included in the zip for instructions.

Vvlttch has more experience in running a server than I have. Perhaps he can step in and describe how to set up your bot files to run a campaign, for instance.
