Default 52Hour contest - 06-09-2004

I took part in a speed mapping contest here in Germany. The 52Hour Mappack contest.

They release a topic......give you the textures. models, all the other stuff..and you have 52 hours to make a fullscale mission oriented map.

i didnt do it last time.......but this time i decided it would be good to try

did anyone else take part in that? Carp? im sure the 52Hour contest is known by many...last topic was spain remember those maps?

anyway its over and they are soon letting the maps play and will release them on thier forums.....00clan.de will have the maps listed one per thread....go vote, you might just vote for mine!

to stay fair i cant release my mapname.

You participated? How cool! Man, the topic was really interesting, to say the least: A pony farm! LOLZ! I bet the result will be 90% shitty maps (because it's more difficult to do than an abstract setting like dust/aztec or that usual abandoned factory), but also some really great and original ones. Hm, gotta see if and when they're finished...
Well, I wish you good luck, and I'll certainly vote! If it will be for your map, we shall see...
Anyway, the last time, de_52leon won, and design-wise it was certainly a highlight. But I think I even enjoyed playing de_52andalusia a bit more...

Yeah, they have posted on their HP that they are currently checking and reviewing the maps. Shortly, they will open up a new sub-forum where they will present the maps...

Huh? Wtf can't I edit? :'(

Um, anyway: Maps can be downloaded now... I alredy did so and had a quick look at them. So far, the most promising-looking ones IMHO are:
as_52ponyscheisse ( the title... )
cs_52fieldday
cs_52ponyexpress (GREAT looks!)
de_52grain
de_52pwny.
Just a spontaneous impression, though. Maybe one of the uglier-looking maps will turn out to play better, who knows?

I've never seen a 52 hr contest, although I've just recently heard about the first one.
So ... nope ... I wasn't a participant.

I've been working a lot & playing Doom 3, when I'm not at work.
It's a really, frickin' good game.
My favourite 1st person shooter yet, I think.

Still working on a TS map from time to time.
I've recently moved & had put it aside for a long time.
I plan on releasing it soon, prior to HL 2, in mid-November.
That's the plan, anyways.

Cheers !

I came.
I sawed.
I conquered.

HA! So yours is one of the five, eh? Thought so... still, I have only looked at them all one single timne, prolly 3-5 minutes each. Gotta install de_bitterwine and cs_brainwash_f again, check them and see if I recognize some typical elements of your style in one of the five... there are so many small elements that can betray a mapper, but you gotta know several maps by the same mapper to see them. Like Atomfried and his fondness of bridges, for example (cs_attack and cs_snowbase are actually SO similar...) Gimme some time, but I will place a guess. One thing I'm guessing right now is that ponyscheisse is not your map because the title is too plump & direct and you never used a German title AFAIK...
/starts installing maps...

I couldn't find a single picture of any contest map on the site.

Not a one. >
