Default The forums "edit" function - 10-03-2004

Has anybody else noticed that sometime you can edit your own old postings and sometimes not?
E.g. I started a thread in the joebot forum and couldn't edit the first posting after I answered to that thread. But a few minutes ago I read another old thread and there I was able to edit old postings...

I don't know... I know there is a certain delay after which you should not be able to edit a post, but perhaps there are other circumstances too...

Just a test to see if I can edit the last posting after writing a new one...

I've an idea what could be the problem. I use two computers, one at my office and one at home. I can only edit those postings I've written at the same computer...

This might be a cookie issue then. Your cookies are updated only on the computer from which you submitted your post. It sounds logical as I don't know how the forum software could behave otherwise.

2 things for me:
- Perhaps this forum leaves a cookie on your computer, but I'm sure it keeps one for the server, because when I use another computer, I only see new posts. And that's great!
- for the edit problem, there's a max time to edit a post, but also, (not sure of that, I never really took care) but I think you can only edit the last post you submit.

Let's test now!

Damn, no, you can edit more than one post. Only a time limit?

Hmm, I can't edit postings which I've written yesterday at the same computer. The only thing that has changed is my IP address...
