Default Forked version of Metamod-am - 28-08-2018

https://github.com/Bots-United/metamod-hl1

This is a forked version of metamod-am 1.21 (upstream appears unmaintained - pull requests ignored for ages):
- patched to build with latest version of Xcode under macOS
- added Xash3D engine support

Auto-built binaries can be downloaded from (for Windows, GNU/Linux and macOS):

Awesome, nice work Whistler.

I have incorporated it also in master branch of RealBot. If ever I release a new version it will be totally up to date!

How about Metamod-p? It's nice to have all mod support.

metamod-p = very good but does not support macOS (requires a lot of platform-specific hacks to get it working on unsupported OSes)

like:
https://github.com/jkivilin/metamod-...kent_linux.cpp
https://github.com/jkivilin/metamod-...edll_linux.cpp

anyway, not many mods support macOS (mostly valve official mods) so the mod-supporting problem would not be critical

Well I don't know if this is worth mentioning to Hullu or Jussi Kivilinna for MM-P OS X support. But not a lot of Server Hosts provide a lot of Mac Servers. And I don't think its worth the hassle to ask him to make JK-Botti work on Mac as well as his other inventions like Spawn Chat Protection and Playername, which are kinda needed for Op4 Mac servers (if there any hosted).

But I suppose we cannot stop you from maybe adding the OS X support for other bots and Metamod Addons that could be useful for Mac fans.

As far as I know a dedicated server cannot be run on MacOS, but I may be wrong. About the MacOS dynamic linkent support I think I can help with the platform code, as I have been doing experiments with similar things before on Mac. The thing is I don't have my own Mac and getting one from a friend is a bit complicated. Anyway if the circumstances are good I will create a pull request.

Dedicated server does run on macOS, however I doubt anyone would use such a desktop OS for a specific hardware (which is not available on any of the public clouds) to host server on the internet.

macOS version might be more useful for offline or LAN games, or for development/testing, just like windows version.

There are still many Windows HLDS around there.

Even so, but its a pity Mac OS X wasn't supported for HLDS until 2013. Even those 3rd Party Addons and GameMods didn't support Mac since before.

I am glad it runs on Mac OS now. I can develop RealBot on my mac without resorting to Wine and such. Very nice.

Also think about it, from Valve's perspective, all this does is take a lot of time to make it work and 'little' benefit. Although from a marketing/image perspective this is nice of course.

Regardless, I am thankful it runs on Mac
