Default a couple of questions - 04-02-2004

the racc looks like it is going to be one of the best bots. the web site seems pretty unclear, what version is the latest one now? is it compatible with 1.5 and 1.6?

the current version (main branch, template #2) supports 1.5, but 1.6 is completely unsupported at the moment (is that right PMB?), template #2 i find isnt very stable though (the bots on my version dont move or do anything after the first round), but you might like to try template #1, that MIGHT work fine (i havent tried it)

if you have version 1.3 you can play the "secondary branch", which is very stable but old

One point I'd like to make, is that the "templates" are not the RACC source code. They are development kits for people who want to make their own bot or dig into this one for interesting stuff. The templates are useful to programmers. They are NOT meant to be playable bots.

in template #1 the bots don't move at all, because it's up to the programmer to code their AI.

in template #2 the bots do move around and shoot stuff, but it's a VERY basic AI (similar to the one in the secondary branch) to help programmers appreciate the sensing and motile parts of the bots.

Both of them have been developed on CS 1.5 with all the PAK files expanded (this is necessary for the navmesh to work). I haven't tested any of them with CS 1.6 since my CS 1.6 install is corrupted and it asks me to redownload the whole cache, thing I can't do since I'm behind a very slow RTC modem.

[BBB]sluggo, that would be great !
Someone from the mEAn forums already sent me a Steam CD by snail mail but when I received it it was broken... so if you do ensure you wrap it into some stuff... and ensure it has a plastic case
If you could get me the Steam cache for CS for Windows (and if you want include the Steam cache for other MODs as well) that would be great... I already have HLDS by the way. Get in touch with me when you want to know my address

@wentsen: sorry, no release date... I can't give any... I've got a job to earn me a living, and I can't code the bot 8 hours a day like a professional coder would... it's rather 30 minutes a day in average these days because I've got a lot of other stuff to do. But soon, when it'll be playable enough, I'll do like Stefan and post WIP versions

*rofl* : Baty... :-)
[sounds like Betty or batty]

PMB sound more like Pierre Makes Bots, so i'll stick with that *g*

he (PMB) uses an analog phone (not dsl) modem, so downloading a cd is about not beeing able to phone for days....

@PMB, i'm dld'ing the 700+ MB cache file (all inclusive), in 3 hrs i will walk to the post office, im optimistic to have you snail mail address until then (if you want or not , i can use google)....

Cheers memed

lol hey, don't fight for who will be the one to send me stuff

Okay, the address at which you can send packs of beer, love letters, banknotes, birthday presents and (optionally) Steam CDs is

Pierre-Marie Baty
8 rue de Maupertuis
85700 Menomblet
France

oh and for love letters I take only girls letters you sickos

after all I don't think I am risking something great if I put my address here for public reading

i knew allready :-)
you have a nice online phonebook's for france, one is even in german, but only knows an other Baty at that address, oh and i found your CV
it is allready online at BU *g*

Cheers

P.S.
ah and i don't send beer anywhere, our beer is called Kölsch (comes from the city name cologne) and it's not suitable for drinking more that 100km away from cologne... It won't survive the transport and may not be brewed more than 80km from cologne, but AFAIK your whine is a good reason to skip beer alltogheter
