Hey Mal, i like what you got done for the bot stuff so far. Especially that scanning, that's pretty sweet. Would this help the bots if they get stuck in an area where no waypoint is near?

I know it would help bots running up against walls trying to get to waypoints on the other side, and that's awesome i think.

I can't wait till you start on the waypoint system and scripting, that's gonna be sweet!

You should make a sticky topic for each fritzbot preview topic, so we can comment and such and then just delete and restart for each release your working on. No biggy though.

Well, hopefully they will never be in an area devoid of nodes. There should always be a node visible somewhere. I haven't gotten to the point that they can use this to navigate the map without nodes yet (and prolly never will, its a headache I'm not ready for ATM - also I'm not a fan of automatic path systems for games like wolf).

It WILL help, as you say, with trying to get items/enemies/nodes. Right now, they do some basic checks, based on visibility and a few other things, and while it usually works, you've prolly seen instances where they are running like mad into a wall trying to get an item, or where they're trying to supply someone thats caught up on something, and is out of their reach (ex: if you die and your body gets thrown on top of the wall on beach, the medic bots will try desperately to revive you - they can't understand your not reachable).

This code fixes all of that.

The waypointing does sound good... hopefully the medics will be slightly smarter about reviving.

This is slightly unrelated, I guess... but could you make a cvar or something so that the bots' impact grenades could be turned off? Sort of frustrating... >_> If you've played ETF with bots you'll probably know what I mean.

Hey Mal that script system looks pretty sharp, and it looks pretty easy to modify. I was gonna ask, is fixing the bug with switching teams (i.e stopwatch mode or swap_teams) on the todo list for next release?

Excellent, and it's good to hear it isn't too hard to fix.
