Default Q about Bot Teaching. - 25-11-2005

Ok i'm basically at college now and cant get on to my ftp to upload the files and check them out.. but do these bots "teach themselves" and such like, so they dont run into walls, sorry if your sittin here sayin wtf is he on about?! but i have no idea if they do run into walls yet or they have like a waypoint thing.. if they are "self teaching" i could just fill the server with bots and let them teach themselves where to shoot, duck, toss and such..

Thanks for any help 8D

Adz, (Tw | V1per)

Well, bot has exeperience system (like other pod's has ), that used only for waypoint navigation. So Bots can't teach themselves to "where to shoot, duck, toss and such..", however yet! You may try joebot 1.6.x, that uses Neural Networks... or something like that... (Or try to ask Whistler to implement such thing's in the code )

i heard that you needed to leave the server on over night/play with them alot then they will learn how to get round the map easier, they went on to say something about the bots creating a folder called /learnt/ or something. This is why i was enquiring ! so i'll have a crack at installing this when i get home today. looks more active compaired to some other bot programs around.
