Make sure the ram has a lifetime Warranty and you should be set.
Which type do you plan on buying?

I was told that Samsung makes very good chips too...

Ultra is allright, its worked for me perfectly fine for these last 9 months.

For the mostpart, as long as it works, all RAM is pretty much the same.

Well, one part is the chips they use (Micron, Samsung, Hynix, Infineon, Winbond etc.), another part is the module those chips are sitting on. In general, those chips I listed here are pretty good - as long as the module on which they're used is of decent quality. AFAIK, Kingston uses Micron chips and makes pretty reliable and generally ok performing RAM modules, though they aren't first choice for overclockers and don't exactly belong to the ones with the best price/performance relation - at least not where I live.
Other good brands which use reliable chips and make good modules include TwinMOS, Corsair, Mushkin, GeIL, Apacer...
Depending on what exactly you're looking for (best performance at stock speeds, best compatibility with your respective mainboard, best overclockability, highest achievable FSB, best reliability), the ideal RAM could be any of these... Did you google a bit for reviews and RAM roundups to see whether those modules you had in mind perform well and to check for possible alternatives?
