Default Brescia map ready for play ! - 19-11-2005

This map rocks.

Hats off to the guys that made it. Really good fun.

The bots play pretty well on both sides, and within 20 mins, it'll be touch and go to see if the allies can win without some help.

Enjoy.

One Brescia url is http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/wildstar/brescia11.htm

Actual file is called brescia1_1.pk3 - lots of alternative sites out there.

Enjoy.

Just played for a while - excellent work! The axis bots were mowing my team down at every turn, and the snipers on both teams were vicious. A really rough map!

The one thing I saw that had some problems was that narrow path by the wall thats near the allied spawn - the bots got stuck on it a lot. It would prolly help to have a node right at the end of each side of the wall, to help the bots get centered into the path. And then another node just inside that path, so that the bots have a good bearing on where to go.

Nothing else jumped out, except that the bots never used the stairs to get to the main gate, but instead always used that circular ramp which was usually suicide.

Excellent work - a really fun map!

Cheers!

Fixed the wee navigational problem of bumping into the garden furniture!
And shortened the spawn times a bit too.

I like the Sgt Slick pak2/3 amendments too - they are going to stay on my setup for sure.
Good one.

So - the (final?) brescia upload is here....

Kewl - downloading now, and will try it tonight. If its alright with you, I'll include it with the Fritz patch, which should be ready in a day or so.

Cheers!

One question I have, and I am sure it is just me being new is all. I added this map to the wolfenstein/main dir, but upon entering the game, there is no ability to choose this map. I had to load it from the command line to get it to run. What have I missed ?

That's the .arena script system RTCW has. By default RTCW should load all .arena files for every map (if named and placed in their proper directories within the maps pk3 file) so they display on in game lists (the map voting list, server config list) but it's really buggy in that it won't load some arena files sometimes, or it will load duplicates, etc.

There's no real way around it per say as it's one of those nagging RTCW bugs but if you extract the maps .arena file into a folder in the main directory called "scripts" that may help it load the map for in game lists, also if it has specific game modes setup for it, it won't show in whatever mode you're trying to play on (you can modify the .arena file so it does, there's a section in the waypointing tutorial that explains it better)

It does kind of suck that's why i'm not including modified arena files anymore as they only work some of the time anyway. I hope that helps you out though.
